One year ago today, Sam Porter Bridges delivered a game onto PS5. Happy 1st birthday, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.

I'm not saying this is definitely going to happen, but there's a chance that every time Sony releases a game that underperforms, people will point back to Destiny 2. They'll share screenshots of how many players came back at the end once the content got back on track, even without it being The Shattered Cycle. They'll bring up the petition and ask what might have happened if those resources had gone toward Destiny 3 instead. I know a lot of people are hurting right now. For many, it feels like a fresh bandage being ripped off every day. Take care of each other.

@Bungie Sorry but saying destiny 2 fell short of expectations for years seems so disingenuous, of course if there was no content to play, player numbers and engagement was going to be down. I have no idea why Destiny is being blame when it was the leaderships fault, not the players.

If Bungie had invested more resources into Destiny, the game would be bigger. If Bungie had prioritized overdelivery, more players would have returned. If Bungie had preserved its campaigns instead of vaulting content, the story would be better. If Bungie had supported PvP with more maps, Crucible would be thriving. If Bungie leadership had prioritized the franchise’s long-term future, Destiny 3 would already be in development. If Sony leadership had made smarter decisions, we wouldn’t be facing what is Destiny’s final live service chapter. Destiny deserved more. The fans deserved more. The developers deserved more. But I’m not leaving. I’ll keep playing. I’ll keep fighting for this franchise. I’ll keep advocating for Destiny’s future. I will stay loud. I will stay committed. This stopped looking like a business decision a while ago. Destiny is profitable. Bungie is valuable. Walking away from both isn’t the market talking — it’s Sony choosing to burn down an era rather than admit any part of it worked.
