Bill C-9 will now go through the same stages in the Senate, including study by a parliamentary committee. The Senate is on break for the first two weeks in April and is scheduled to resume meeting the week of April 13.

Bill C-9 passed its final vote in the House of Commons yesterday. The legislation included the changes made in the Justice Committee, including the removal of the religious belief defence.

MP's debated the changes made to Bill C-9 by the Justice Committee today and voted to accept them. This is the second last stage the bill goes through in the House of Commons. There will be one final day of debate and a final vote on Bill C-9, called Third Reading on Wednesday.
