I had an awful nightmare last night that I had a new pupil in my class who didn't know the answer to anything, wouldn't let anyone else speak and kept making racist and ignorant comments. Chilling.

Fascinating read. This has some really important implications for medium and long-term planning for next year. How much time do you give to 'fast' reading in your curriculum? Well worth reading this to reflect upon.

Now this is very interesting, and I don't think at all obvious. Reading challenging texts aloud, and at a fast pace, improved the reading comprehension of all students, but for the lowest achievers, the gains were almost twice as great: bit.ly/2XUMfp0.

@hayIeyrmars @Team_English1 I wouldn’t use the mark scheme as a prescriptive tool. To lift pupils to perceptive, teach them high-level knowledge, repeat ad nauseam, and show them explicitly how to phrase it. Then the marks take care of themselves!
