Mayor Mamdani released his map of New York City’s “immigrant enclaves.” Except, he forgot a few spots. Little Italy—one of the oldest immigrant communities in New York City—didn’t make the cut. Here’s what the Italian-Americans whose families have been a part of Little Italy’s history told @IsabellaRedjai.

The conventional wisdom is that Democrats are better off without him. But Susan Collins is strong, and Platner’s successors lack much of what made him a threat, writes Mark Halperin. thefp.com/p/graham-platn…

What alarmed me most wasn’t the suspected misconduct. It was how reluctant my university seemed to confront it, writes Roberto Serrano. thefp.com/p/brown-univer…

Why do conspiracy theorists continue to obsess over Charlie Kirk’s assassination? Despite overwhelming evidence presented at this week’s preliminary hearing in Charlie Kirk’s murder case in Utah, the theories haven’t stopped. The answer, @michaelshermer writes, “has to do with ‘proportionality bias,’ a well-documented concept in the study of conspiracy theories.” It “kicks in when there is an imbalance or mismatch between the size or importance of an event and that of its purported cause,” he adds. Stop scrolling. The Free Press’s @river_is_nice spent last week at a Luddite festival in New York City. After a group meditation session in a Quaker meetinghouse, “I walked outside to smoke a cigarette and bummed a lighter from an Australian woman sitting on the steps,” he writes. “She said she’d stopped by the event on her way home from work; she crews a sailboat that brings freight down the Hudson River—‘slow shipping,’ she described it. She wanted me to refer to her by a pseudonym, and suggested Raya. When I told her it’s also the name of an invitation-only dating app for celebrities, she said: ‘Not that then. Call me Waterbed.’ ” “Waterbed is 43 and has spent most of her life living in hippie communes,” he continues. “Having never really gotten on board with tech to begin with, she does not consider herself a Luddite—although, in many ways, she might be the realest one I met all week. She got her first cell phone at 32, and has no data plan; she uses only WiFi. She’s never bought a brand-new computer.” “The truth about the new Luddites is that they want to be like Waterbed, but they can’t be. They were born too late or they want too much, which is to say, they want something approximating a normal life, something Waterbed doesn’t seem to have had,” Page writes. “But the truth is, even Waterbed has WhatsApp.” Read his full dispatch here: bit.ly/4qSKx4W.

Clavicular isn’t trying to get political with his Israel trip. He came to party, meet girls, and talk looksmaxxing. And weirdly that may have more of an impact than if he were to visit the Nova Music Festival site or meet with former hostages. There’s something powerful to showing his audience that Israel isn’t the pariah state they’ve been told it is—it’s actually one of the greatest tourist destinations on earth with unmatched clubs, beautiful women, and pristine beaches.
