Unbelievable Jeff
That's an utterly ridiculous opinion. Even if he were Messi or Ronaldo. It wouldn't make a difference at all.

I absolutely hate and despise the deposit return scheme and these type of people make it significantly worse. The sooner this DRS thing ends

Don't want to overstate this but 20-minute highlights of every Premier League game in history, free and on demand, means that this should be a national holiday. preml.ge/TheArchiveX

@Nick_Metcalfe Ok, let's just say it was every weekend. So what? I'll always ask what was the worst thing that ever happened as a result of a ref's mistake? The answer is nothing that people didn't get over. Fans accepted VAR because they were sold a pack of lies, it was always a Pandora's box.

@TheFalve Every weekend boss. Check out Match of the Day from that era. I didn’t like it. I’ve always accepted human error broadly speaking. Fans wanted technology - it would be helpful to have that as an honest starting point. But I accept VAR went further than they expected.

I feel like I should go to a priest with a confession like this, but I don’t want VAR to go. Football before VAR was dominated by referee gaffes. You lot pleaded for technology. It wasn’t quite the technology you wanted, so you moaned again. Fewer mistakes are made now.

@MarkHowsham @Sam_LUFC__ It won't be enough though. Something will be missed and they'll go straight back to the way it is now. They won't stop, they'll never stop until every second is scrutinised in the name of accuracy. It's not worth it.

@TheFalve @Sam_LUFC__ 30 second rule. No over analysis, just a quick check on what the manager has claimed was wrong. I suspect there would be very few calls made to prevent losing a genuine appeal later in game.

@TheFalve @umirf1 That was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Even funnier than you lot letting a 2 nil lead slip and then not qualifying for 'your' World Cup in the US. 🫵😆

Easy to forget just how many obvious errors slipped through the cracks in a pre-VAR world. With how much coverage we have of football now, real possibility people would tired fast and wish for the alternative regardless of what’s in place. Easier to focus on what doesn’t work.
Matt Slater@mjshrimper

I admit it - I thought VAR would make a positive difference. I was wrong. I think we should scrap it. Not tweak it. Just scrap it. Looks like a lot of you agree. nytimes.com/athletic/71560…

@TheFalve @asyouwereS6 It was every weekend boss. I didn’t like it, but we can’t pretend that wasn’t the case. I get that fans don’t like how far VAR has gone but I can’t have the great unwashed trying to say they didn’t want it and said it wouldn’t work. Fans wanted technology. No debate to be had.

Star Wars actor John Boyega explained why he doesn’t watch Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones in 2017: “There are no Black people in Game of Thrones,” he said. “You don’t see one Black person in Lord of the Rings. I ain’t paying money to always see one type of person on-screen. Thoughts?

@Nick_Metcalfe @asyouwereS6 Elephantine memory eh? Fair enough, list your top 5 pre VAR gaffes without googling. You have 5 minutes, should be no problem since you remember so well. Give some obscure examples just to show off your vivid powers of recall.

@asyouwereS6 Colonel I have an elephantine memory of football and indeed life itself. Every weekend was full of boring referee-based incidents and everyone moaning. Look I accept human error. I always did by and large. But fans didn’t. Their mantra was, the technology is there let’s use it.

Under the new approach proposed by Arsene Wenger, an attacking player will be ruled offside only if there is ‌clear gap, or "daylight", between the attacker and the defender, meaning the attacker will be considered onside if any part of the body that can legally score is level with or behind the second-to-last defender. rte.ie/sport/soccer/2… #RTEsoccer
