My two years working for The Lantern were @EddieGeorge2727's junior and senior years at OSU. The term "freak" is overused in sports these days, but he was the absolute epitome of the phrase. Insane physical specimen. Heck of a nice guy, too.

Four Trojan Wrestlers punched their ticket to the state tournament after the District Championships at Trent Arena! The four will travel to Columbus next weekend to compete in the OHSAA Division I State Championship!

The Troy wrestling team won an MVL title and sectional title this season, and much of the team will compete at districts this weekend. This is the best Troy wrestling team I've seen in a loooooonnnggggg time. Good luck this weekend, boys!

Never got a one-on-one with Lou Holtz in my past life as a sports writer, but did get to ask him some questions about Troy grad @Ryan21Brewer during press conferences for the two Outback Bowls I covered. My two favorite Holtz quotes about Brew will be in the comments.

Obviously Coach Holtz had figured out pretty early on the best way to motivate Ryan Brewer was to doubt Ryan Brewer. It worked. Went on to have a remarkable career at South Carolina, and I'm sure Holtz had glowing things to say about him at the end.

The Troy boys basketball team has won 3 district titles in school history: 1956, 1999 and 2005.
Brooks Hall was on the 1999 team. His brother Mike was on the 2005 team.
Mike’s son Malakyi is on this year’s team, which will play for a district title Saturday.

Troy has named Ryan Jones its new football coach!
Jones previously coached at Troy Christian at Versailles. He won a state title at Versailles in 2021.
