Not to say that the dialogue can’t be nonsensical at times when factoring in cuts and overall lack of concern for strict adherence to a concrete and simple plot; but given all the strain that the actual words are run through just to be presented

I’m not sure why Argento is even in the dialogue discourse given that Italian films of that era were filmed with actors often speaking different languages on set and then being dubbed later into whatever language is needed for a given market. Of course it’s stilted and weird
