The health system in the Gaza Strip is facing catastrophic complications that further complicate its operations and service delivery. The occupation continues to deliberately undermine the chances of health recovery and obstruct any opportunity to treat the sick and wounded, either by preventing treatment, complicating travel procedures for treatment abroad, or denying the essential elements of healthcare. The intransigence in preventing the entry of oils and spare parts represents a shift from direct killing to indirect killing of the sick and wounded. We have begun relying on generators with reduced operating capacity and limited hours of operation, but this does not mean the crisis is over or contained. Nasser Medical Complex provides a range of specialized services and is the only hospital in the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip. The threat of its services, which depend on the operation of generators, ceasing would be a true catastrophe. Rather, they represent a misleading of public opinion and an attempt to undermine the entities that are working with complete transparency and responsibility to save patients' lives and alleviate their suffering under extremely complex humanitarian conditions. ▪️The Ministry of Health affirms that absolving the occupation of its direct responsibility for preventing patients from traveling and the deterioration of their health and humanitarian conditions is an unacceptable alignment with its narrative and a blatant attempt to mislead public opinion at a time when the occupation is seeking to evade international accountability. The Ministry clarifies that the total number of patients evacuated during the past six months does not exceed 420, averaging fewer than 70 patients per month. Meanwhile, more than 21,500 patients remain in dire need of treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
