Okok so would people rather have babble focus more on interoperability or on polish and tracking quality? Theoretically by removing some of the scope we’d be able to focus more on tracking quality of our devices but at the cost of DIY/other devices working worse.

Let’s see what this new year has planned for us all here in the DIY VR community. I’m proud of the work of the babble team team, and contributors have done to make 2025 one of the best years of DIY VR ever. I can promise you we’re going to make 2026 even better!

So like uh anyone know a headset manufacturer who'd want to run babble FT (or our new ET) as their native solution or will we just have to make a headset😅

@bozoid Tbh AVP is prob the best example of what happens when you take an emerging platform that needs a solid use-case to draw people in, and then depreive it of that thing by making it inaccessible. Meanwhile the other major players are making lots of strides to make it easier to dev

VR is not dead except to software devs
Bit Planet Games@BitPlanetGames

@RoszykAdam No one said its dead but businesses can't make money on it so WTF is the point (outside of hobbyists) working on apps for it? I'm old enough to remember when Apple released their SDK to let devs develop, publish, and release their apps on the iPhone. See the difference?

ig to refine that thought more, early on, the sw isn’t useful enough without the hw in people’s hands, and the hw doesn’t make sense to ship widely until the software shows real value. So you end up stuck needing both to move forward, but neither is ready to pull the other along.

There’s always this weird balancing act when you're building a full HW and SW stack, especially for niche products. The SW usually isn’t in a good enough place for people to care about the HW, and there’s never enough HW out there for people to really try out the SW.

Every time a team of engineers tries to come with a name of a piece of software, it’s either an acronym or just a silly name

I wish @OfficialSlimeVR made EyeTrackVR and Project Babble stuff. It'd be amazing to see the manufacturing skills they've developed put to use to make eye & face tracking easier and more widespread
