@RealAndrewChalk @BrewDogJames They’ve had 198,000 members of staff over this period of time? Wow that is worrying, no wonder they need to crowdfund…to pay that many salaries?

@BrewDogJames 90 disgruntled former employees plus 90 people who claim to be former staff but are too cowardly to stand behind their allegations, plus 18 current staff have some kind of complaint or other about Brewdog. Almost 0.1% of employees over the stated period.

@KirstieMAllsopp What absolute twaddle. You do not ‘prove your worth’ by being in the office. You do it by delivering agaist your objectives.

If your job can be done from home it can be done from abroad where wages are lower. If I had an office job I’d want to be first in the queue to get back to work and prove my worth to my employer. I am terrified by what could be on the horizon for so many.

@JimHarraHMRC @RishiSunak urgent clarity is needed - HRMC referring to guidance that doesn’t cover what happens for those quarantining - can they use the furlough scheme where work is available like sheilders could and those with childcare issues could. @HMRCpressoffice
The HR Guy@TheHRGuy_

@HMRCcustomers can those retruninf from abroad who have to quarantine be placed on furlough if work is available; in ths ame way Shielders and those with Child Care issue could?

@HMRCcustomers Thanks so to be clear - employees can’t be furloughed if work is available but they cannot attend due to quarantine.

@TheHRGuy_ Hi The furlough pay is there for cases where the employer has no work for you. Where an employee is unable to attend work they would need to discuss this with there employer who should advice if they are covered by their sick leave policy. Martin

@fireryk2020 Quite difficult to give a view as it will depend on the wording in your contract. Sounds like you are taking the right action if the employer has not told you what constitutes ‘manager’s discretion’

@TheHRGuy_ hiya just wondered if you could give me any advice please. I was off sick 2 weeks unpaid and 3 weeks on sick with stress and anxiety (adjustment disorder on sick note) and I've not been paid csp, it's says managers discretion in contract

So Boris has effectively said to employers ‘if you can follow social distancing you can open and your workers can come back’. It is still down to the employer to ensure the workplace is safe. it is down to the employer to decide if their workers return.

It seems to me that we are moving from a very black & white situation (stay home, save lives) to a much greyer picture in the coming weeks in which we will be making more choices based on our appetite for risk/personal circumstances 1/

@AbbieCadabra If the work is there the employee should be doing it. Not sure why they’d bring in a temp to backfil as they wouldn’t be able to claim the grant for the permanent employee’s salary.

@TheHRGuy_ employer furloughs staff, then brings in sub contractor/agency worker to do same job - not what scheme designed for obviously, unethical at least, but unlawful? Thanks

@JasonBiddo An employee cannot work for the employer while furloughed. If he is back at work the company might not be claiming the grant - only they know that...
