Arte Moreno, the owner of the Los Angeles Angels, said today that he doesn’t prioritize winning because it’s not even a top 5 priority for the fan base unless you’re a purist. That’s a slap in the face to every fan and feels disrespectful to the players on this team. These guys grind every single day to improve, destroying their bodies for most of the year and sacrificing time with their families, and for the owner of the organization to come out and say winning isn’t the number one priority is beyond embarrassing, it’s insulting, tone deaf, and flat out disgraceful. Honestly, it’s the kind of statement that proves he has no business owning this team and should be forced to sell immediately. #ReptheHalo #GoHalos #MLB #Angels

@TheHaloStandard Go right ahead. Most people in attendance at today’s game were happy to witness a historic outing by Reid Detmers. Plus, it was Little League day at the Big A. Lots of happy children and families celebrating an Angels win. Good times.

The Angels just swept the Rangers, led by a dominant start from Detmers. Maybe all of the “Sell the team” chants are starting to light a fire under this group. Detmers: 8IP 1H 1ER 0BB 14SO This is the Detmers we’ve all been waiting to see. Career high in strikeouts, no walks, and just 1 run allowed. That’s exactly what we all know he is capable of. What a great series all around. The fans have been incredible at the stadium protesting Arte and the regime, and the movement is starting to get national attention. @hawaiiwriter As fans of this team, how should we express our distaste with how things have been going for the last decade?

@TheHaloStandard I was there. You could literally not hear what they were chanting no matter how loud or large they got. You are in a bubble on social media. Most of the stadium was clueless as to who they were and why they were swinging their shirts around. It did not live up to expectations.

Why is that sad? Up until yesterday the crowd chants were coming through loud and clear on the broadcast, now they’re actively blocking it. Meanwhile the videos are going viral across social media, other fanbases are noticing and talking about it, and even big national media accounts are picking it up. For the life of me I can’t understand why you and some others are so against this, the good news is you’re definitely in the minority.

@TheHaloStandard They were protesting Moreno, not cheering the team. It was underwhelming to say the least. The only reason I knew what they were saying was because I saw yesterday’s posts on X. Nobody on our side of the stadium could make out any of their words clearly. Sad but true.

@hawaiiwriter They probably were cheering for the team, they can protest Arte and management and still support the players on the field.

@TheHaloStandard I was there in section 107 by the dugout near the field. We could not hear anything they were chanting, not one word. They looked like soccer fans. The people around me thought they were cheering for the team. 🤷

@dkariel I have never doubted that the players want to win, that’s not what’s in question for me. Personally I don’t think ownership or management care about it though. That’s why I love the protest.

@dsilseth I definitely think that it can be motivating for them. They are employed by one of the worst owners in sports and to see the fanbase rally behind them and demand better could possibly be good for them. Or, maybe I am just an idiot. 🤷‍♂️

@TheHaloStandard Whether Arte sells or not, Detmers looked brilliant tonight. Will the sweep turn around the season? The Angels are 6.5 games out of WC, 7.5 behind the A's. . . . For one night, Halo fans can dream.

Great win for the Angels tonight, Urena looked good again and battled it out for the halos. Urena: 5IP 5H 1ER 3BB 6SO 2.58 ERA The offense showed up again too, Trout hit his 13th homer of the year, Neto had a pair of hits, and Peraza keeps coming through in big spots. Series secured, now go get the sweep tomorrow. On a side note, the “Sell the team” chants were going strong again tonight and I’m loving it. It just keeps getting bigger and louder every game.
