One of my new favorite photos with my first grandson, Cruz (and Mars the dog) - taken as @NASAArtemis performs the TLI (Translunar Injection Burn) sending the four brave astronauts to the moon for the first time in both our lifetimes. 🇺🇸🚀🌕 Go Artemis. Go @NASA

@Erdayastronaut I've never seen anything like the tracking shot at 7:00. I watched in complete awe as the sequence developed. Eyes filled with tears -and then the music came in. By far the best launch video ever captured. Would give ANYthing to be able to watch that again for the first time.

MY DUDE YOU WROTE A 7 PARAGRAPH TWEET CALLING TRUMP A MADMAN FOR THREATENING IRAN AND THEY JUST AGREED TO A CEASEFIRE AND OPENING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ. That "Rhetoric of a madman" produced a ceasefire in 24 hours. Democrat's rhetoric produced the nuclear program we were trying to stop in the first place!!!! The impeachable offense is getting Iran to a ceasefire??? Are you out of your mind? Trump just did what you all have been calling on him to do for two months and you want to impeach him for it? Every. Single. One. Of. You. Is. A. Fraud!!!!!!!!

For those curious about how the Artemis II crew is sharing photos on social media during their journey, Reid said the following during his February 20 weekly update: “…all four astronauts will hand their social media over to our respective agencies… so while we’re up there, our social media coordinator for the astronaut office, Camille, will be posting… so we will write the content, we’ll give her the ideas, we’ll send pictures down while we’re on our way out to the Moon and back, and then she’ll do the posting on the various platforms… it’s us posting, but not directly, because we will not have internet connection while we’re out there on the Deep Space Network.” instagram.com/reel/DU_whd5Dp…

Even in darkness, we glow. In this image of Earth taken by the Artemis II crew, we can see the electric lights of human activity. In the lower right, sunlight illuminates the limb of the planet.

This photo of Earth is EXTRA spectacular for a good reason... let me explain. Most images you see of Earth from space are the daylight side of the Earth, and it's obviously very bright (see my last image), this means stars are too dim to be seen with that bright exposure setting (low ISO, high shutter and / or stopped down aperture). BUT this image taken by the Orion crew looks so incredible because you can see the sun is BEHIND the earth, meaning it's night time on the side of the earth facing the crew in this image. So how do you expose a night time earth from space? Same way you do on Earth! A mixture of opening up the aperture (F4 in this case), cranking the ISO (51,200 here), and using a relatively long exposure (1/4 of a second). We can see the settings used by looking at the exif data from the camera. What this means is our camera is also sensitive enough to see stars in the background of Earth, leading to an extraordinary image!!! GREAT WORK!!! These are the kind of images I've been so excited to see!

We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.

@johnkrausphotos The flames are so perfectly exposed -they seem to actually glow. The egress baskets, smoke, wires. Love this image!
