White canes usually have reflective white coverings (tape or paint) and also have a reflective red tip. They are wayfinding tools, not weapons. I have travelled safely with a white cane for over 55 years. Many of us using these canes have an explorer mentality.

Today, October 15 is National White Cane Safety day. In Maine drivers must stop for a white cane user crossing the road. Anywhere that is, not necessarily in a crosswalk. But, it is necessary for a white cane user to pay attention. A white cane signifies legal blindness.

@LadyOTrout Magnesium seems to help. I have tried lots of things but the magnesium does the trick for me. I am not a bot, I am a person that weighs about 140 and I'm moderately active---walking etc; I'm taking 200mg of magnesium. Hope this helps.

Last Thursday, Reid the cairn terrier moved on to whatever is next. He was a very good boy and even now, I feel some strong emotions putting this here but; he has often been mentioned with connected fun so a goodbye is in order. He was loved! He is missed!
