Thankful to all the coaches who I met, and learned from, during this journey. Thank you to @ussoccer and my instructors @MeganMcC2 and @mradzik71 for all their knowledge in helping me continue to grow as a coach.

@ChatCityTactics @stlCITYsc @SportingKC The undisciplined defense happens way too often not to be a result of coaching. The hunt and chase in packs mentality that wins us balls also causes pulido to be in acres of space on that play. 3 guys chased the ball to the middle and then it got reversed.

Hello #AllForCITY! It's Monday and time for the #MLSMondays breakdown of @stlCITYsc's 1-1 draw at @SportingKC. Should CITY have secured all three points? Let's find out... #SKCvSTL Team Selection: Exciting! A switch in formation from the standard 4-2-3-1 to a 3-4-3/3-4-2-1. With Þórisson providing the verticality, looking to run behind, it looked to give Teuchert the ability to sit underneath him in the space now vacated and Löwen the ability to roam and pick up the ball with two bodies forward to pick out a pass. That's the idea, anyway. Vassilev's mask issues wrecked his appearance record for CITY, so it would either be Markanich or Klein on the left. You're not going to play Markanich at LCB in this scenario because of his 1v1 defending, and Klein offers more going forward, so Klein made sense. The expectation of a midfield with what could be the 5th and 6th-best midfielders at the club should be low. CITY had no control over the game, partially the gameplan and partially due to the midfield. This was the only alternative with Durkin suspended and Hartel CrowdStruck in Germany. @mlsstat The Good: 🚂Choo-Choo Teuchert - Before July 20th, his last competitive game was on May 19th, and his previous full 90' was on April 14th. He looked positive, trying to move the ball forward and get on the end of things, and he also looked tired. Both can be true. Posted the best non-Bürki G+ of 0.3, was offside for a chance that narrowly missed wide, and had a loose touch in a 1v1 situation. The German trifecta should be fun to watch this fall. 🦁Löwen - Oozes class, doesn't he? 0.28 G+, a highly dangerous FK, and 0.36 xG+A. 14 passes into the final third, 2 chances created. His standard good performance, and I think many unintentionally forget what a difficult personal situation he is dealing with. Model professional who is a game changer, and it should only get better with another German ahead of him on the pitch. 🇨🇭Bürki - Put up a nice +1.2 PSxG and a casual 1.45 G+ for a 3.92 G+ total over the last two games. If you're going to really struggle to prevent opposition chances, you better trust your netminder. With a year and some change left, don't forget to appreciate Roman while you still can. The Bad: Defense—You can't concede 2.2 xG, especially if you create 0.8 xG. Totland has been struggling with fatigue for some time now, and playing as a wingback challenges his fitness even more. Just look at his minutes played below: It made perfect sense to sub him then, but what happened after is unacceptable. Without a right back, Hiebert shifted over. When you have Hiebert, Yaro, Parker, Reid, and Markanich on the field, an unmarked header should not be a concern. But this is where that Totland sub hurts. Less than three minutes later, with Hiebert still coming to terms with his new role, he was too late to cover the space. Pulido had time to preheat an oven before whipping the equalizer onto Agada's head at the back post. A roster built on aerial dominance, who subbed on additional defenders when it was evident CITY was shaky defensively, cannot concede a goal like that. Tactics guy here, and we can talk X's and O's all day, but at some point, there needs to be some professional responsibility; it's another mistake and a costly one. The Indifferent: 🇮🇸Þórisson —I don't think he played great. His link-up play was poor, but due to the game state, he had to play that Klauss-esque aerial dueling CF role and was fine. Obviously, I'm an advanced stats supporter, but you can't complain about 3 goals in 6 games. With the Becher addition, we may be shifting Nökkvi back out wide, and I never thought I'd be saying this: I might miss Thor. The Thoughts: We might've seen how this team could set up for the rest of the season: Klauss in for Nökkvi, Hartel and Teuchert running beyond and/or sitting underneath him, with Löwen and Durkin controlling the tempo from midfield. Nilsson's health remains the "?" of the defense. This is a different team with him healthy, and there is no replacement for him and his skills in the squad. I think the idea of the back three made sense. Parker acted as a sweeper, and Hiebert and Reid essentially played as fullbacks with the amount of space and 1v1 defending required. For me, the problem was that because of availability, we couldn't put a midfield out that could control the game. When we could get a ball forward, we had an isolated attack with a guy playing his first competitive game in two months, and it shows in the attacking passes: The other problem was that the wingbacks could not get into the game whatsoever. I lost count of the number of times Klein stood open on the left without receiving the ball. That results from two right-footed midfielders not comfortable on the ball. Hence, they are uncomfortable shifting the ball and finding angles the other way. It is also a result of needing Nilsson in the side, a centerback comfortable making line-splitting passes down that side of the field. Timmy tried one left-footed weighted pass and kicked it 30 yards into the stands. This formation required width from the wingbacks, which you saw in spurts. Totland got in behind once and had a 0.15 xG chance, and Klein found Nökkvi for the goal, but by and large, they were often not in the game. Hopefully, Reid+Totland can be difference makers out wide with a fit Nilsson. So, should CITY have secured all three points? No, but they could've. I'll leave you with this: In July (5 games), CITY won 4 points. In the 9 games prior, CITY won 3 points. We will see you again for another #MLSMondays on August 26th! Thanks, check out the stat sheet, and #AllForCITY!

@mlsstat Curious why the minutes covered by the passing maps are all over the place. Even different for teams involved in the same game. Is this tracked by the team and published how they see fit? Why is it never 90 minutes?

@MoRushGirls_DOC Not near technical enough for a possession based team. Fits this system though especially when paired with Lowen. Ostrak/AZ just doesn't take up enough space physically which requires Durkin to do more and be exposed more often.

@MoRushGirls_DOC I would love to see a recognizable pattern going forward. You see it in every team we play. Just always looks so ad hoc with the ball.

This may be a stupid question but here it goes…. Since Apple is a publicly traded company, will they have the release their MLS subscription numbers during their quarterly report?
