Powell will say "tariffs." He and much of the economics establishment have been conditioned to treat tariffs as inherently harmful. But here's the truth: tariffs are one of the few forms of taxation that preserve a government's accountability to its citizens. Tariffs tie state revenue to national production and trade policy. Tariffs allow citizens to remain sovereigns of the government. Income and even consumption taxes subjugate.
