We just completely went thru row units and stripped them down to replace all 20 poly lube bushings, main shafts and hoses. It will come with new chains, rock points and side plates. @FoulkShay I wonder if it is a soil type/condition factor. I've got strip till/relay ground that looks like that next to the neighbors full tillage that hasn't blown a bit so far 🤷‍♂️

Full tillage —> Covered undisturbed soil This is at my place. We are seeding the full tillage to a native/prairie mix (3 acres) in Spring and I wanted it prepped early. Pretty powerful what wind and water can do! And a good demonstration of what cover an residue can do, too

@MaxROIFarmer @jasonmauck1 Wheat can be fully insured. Beans can be insured with a written agreement. I forget the numbers exactly but I think 65%. RMA has been learning about the practice but I'm not sure if they intend to implement any formal program or not.

@jasonmauck1 You may have covered this, how does crop insurance cover your system? Wheat only insurable?

I do not wish pain or a disaster on anyone, but pain teaches. When my dad passed I was given the responsibility to farm our 3k acres…and had to watch our crop do exactly this several years 11,13,14,15,17,19 were wet years. Our relay acres will be a $400+ /ac advantage to mono crop soybeans because they managed this water well. They kept the integrity and vibrancy of their roots. We hedge against dry years with low population and spacing, but on wet years …. It’s an enormous advantage to have a father next to the young soybean plant. I don’t care how nice and techy your planter is…what product you place next to your seed. We need to think about systems that protect our young.

@iamyourfarmer @jcampfarms @AdamLasch1 They partnered with Soil and Water Outcomes Fund. I'm guessing most of the funds are earmarked to pay growers for switching a practice. I think it was 10 year program.

@jcampfarms @AdamLasch1 I was in a climate smart program not with them but another org. They collected the data, crossed referenced with FSA, got stuff signed, I assume did some verification. Don’t know that it took a lot of people to do it.

How many people have jobs solely because of climate smart ag grants? The flood of money sent out should shock people, and the damage/ downstream repercussions will be felt for years. Distortions stacked on top of distortions and perverse incentives.

@jasonmauck1 Have you noticed a difference in architecture of the wheat affecting the beans? My wheat seems exceptionally tall this year. I think that's affecting the beans so far.

@jasonmauck1 Are you blocking your unused rows or did you take them out? Worst part of the drill is getting the extra wear on the unused rows.

Wettest/Best Drought farm we own is getting max pop to act as 5’ living pattern tile for next years soybean crop. For every 4 bushels of wheat/ac 1 acre inch of water is extracted from the soil. An acre or 2 may take the grenade…but as the wheat gains biomass…it drinks
