@Ilopusife They definitely have a place in my timber stand--as a legume they pump a ton of nitrogen back into the soil--but, like blackberries, they will tend to overwhelm an area after thinning or logging.

@BitSlappin851 I'd hate em a little less if I got free blackberries out of it, but they only produce fruit where there's sun--everywhere else (if left unattended) I'm pulling 20' clumps of them out of the trees with the excavator.

@GlizzyZiggy @X9_redux That's the kicker--they'll grow berries if they're in the sun, and if they're not in the sun they will climb 20'-30' up my beautiful Doug Fir to find it.

@X9_redux @TheLloydFiles In the pnw they grow... EVERYWHERE. If sun hits them they'll grow berries. I often walk down the road in the summer and grab some to snack on if I'm out. On the atv going down to another part of the property? Berries. They get spread by birds that eat them out of the fields.

@X9_redux I'm totally down with our native Pacific Blackberry, but this is that invasive Himalayan Blackberry. It outcompetes nearly everything around it, climbs my trees, and makes the stand unwalkable.

He has 6 more loads to drop tomorrow, and then in about a month he’s dropping ~150 trees, which I will be trailering out of there.

@WadingSmith check this out—a guy is building a couple of shops up the road and knocking down timber. He’s in too much of a hurry to market it, so he’s just chunking it up to fit in his dump truck and dropping it at my site. No mobile saw mill to call, so it’s just 2027 firewood.
