btw, if you downsave from Adobe Animate to Flash CS6, be sure to convert your pencil strokes to fills. Tapered line settings for the pencil tool DON'T get carried over, so it'd be a good idea to preserve that by converting to fills under 'Modify-> Shape--> Convert Lines to Fill

100% Terrible precedent. Many productions are deeply entrenched not just in Animate, but the entire Adobe ecosystem. Why would professionals continue to commit to software that can be pulled with little notice and no alternative? Can’t even buy it standalone. 😤

and Adobe Animate CC 2024 doesn't always play nice in Animate 2019 for example. I'm curious how the transition out of Creative Cloud will be, or if the CC version will be patched to work without an Adobe Account/internet connection.

I used to down convert files from different Flash/Animate files back in the day, and it used to SUUUCK. You could open CS3 files in CS5, but not the other way around. You had to convert to CS4 first. With Animate CC, older versions were removed pre-CC 23.0.......

I'm sure I have Flash CS3 or 5 somewhere, does it still work on Windows 11? Who knows? Will down converting files I want to keep from Animate CC be easy? Definitely not. Adobe cutting off Animate just wasn't on my Bingo card this year. 🫠

@Liam2D So many questions! It just seems sudden, and a pain in the butt for the few Animation Studios that still use it.

@TheLoreFactory I just got the same email. Hard to know if this is going to be a serious problem or can ee still make do with out needing further updates or patches to the software afterwards

"We’re contacting you to let you know that Adobe will be discontinuing Adobe Animate on March 1, 2026." Just got this e-mail from Adobe about my Animate subscription. It will still be useable (apparently), but tech support will end by 2027. 😵

I'm glad I've picked up Toonboom, this might be my sign to finally pull the plug on Creative Cloud.
