" To walk in my own way, free, with an eye to see things as they are... yet with all modesty to say, my soul be satisfied with flowers, with weeds, with thorns even; but gather them in the one garden I may call my own." -Cyrano de Bergerac

The US is a hodgepodge of racial and religious groups that all vote purely for their own interests There is no more melting pot. We added too many people too fast. Islamic terrorism, Mexican riots in LA, race-based wealth redistribution, etc... It will only get worse

In Australia, the word burger refers to the round bun shaped bread. What’s inside is irrelevant. We have hamburgers, chicken burgers, fish burgers, veggie burgers… My son used to eat mustard burgers. Just the bread with some mustard. I was surprised to learn it’s not so in the US.

@thelucentcomic @varrock Melting pot of Europeans, maybe. English, Italian, Irish… countries that fought for hundreds of years, all coming to America to start over with a dream. Then the others showed up… and fucked it up.

@PWestoff Amazing how quickly they can bring out the heavy artillery against the natives, but against invaders they’re supposedly defenseless.

Video from Thursday, 9th April 2026. Ireland's political Quislings are bringing in the army to clear out Irish men and women protesting the racial destruction of their country. Western European civil war ticks ever closer - Patriots V Traitor Class.

@TechMex505 @varrock Ahh.. ok. I never looked at it like that. I always saw it as everyone's culture is supposed to melt into a homogenous globalist slop. I agree with it the way you're describing it, and it worked that way in Australia for decades.

@thelucentcomic @varrock It WAS a good metaphor. It implies you melt and become part of America. Briging your tallent but becoming part of the whole. This is no longer the case. MOST Immigrants don't even bother learning the language anymore, they have no interest in becoming American.

@KAMbot1138 It's something I appreciated, especially in today's world where writers want to bang you over the head with their opinions. As he would put it, questions upon questions.

@thelucentcomic Yes, and that's probably the best answer. Herbert seems to leave a lot open for the reader to consider.

I’ve now finished all 6 of Frank Herbert’s DUNE books. Loved the series. Superb ending. Here’s how I’d rank them from most to least enjoyable: Dune Chapter House: Dune Heretics of Dune God Emperor of Dune Children of Dune Dune Messiah

@KAMbot1138 lol, well, something I like about the series on the whole is it's a never ending series of questions. A lot of it is left up to interpretation.

@thelucentcomic Interesting discussion, but not really possible here. But I will mark your answer for my own personal tally.

My best mate's dad is Chinese. When he came here, he took an anglo name so that people could address him. Married an Aussie, raised his kids as Aussies, lived an Aussie life. But he still kept his Chinese heritage in the home, and his sons were better for it. That's how it should be done.

@thelucentcomic @varrock It can be, but there has to be time for assimilation. Too many were allowed to immigrate in too short a time

I can totally understand people seeing it that way, as they stray a long way from the original setting. But for me, Children of Dune and God Emperor are such philosophical stories, with a lot of the driving force about looking inwards and thinking. The final two books take what's been established and put it all in motion in the real world. I loved them.

@thelucentcomic Nice, I'll have to go back and finish it, stopped in middle school after God Emperor. Always heard the ending kinda went off the rails, I'll have to check it out.
