I wonder what this little boy is up to now.
Back in 2015, a college student in the central Philippines walked past a McDonald’s drive-through at night and saw a nine-year-old kneeling on the pavement, using a wooden stool as a desk, finishing his homework by the light spilling out of the restaurant. His family had no electricity.
She took a photo, posted it to Facebook, and the world saw him within a week.
His name is Daniel Cabrera. His father had passed two years earlier. He, his mother and his brothers were living inside a wall-less roadside food stall his mother watched at night for around $1.77 a day. He owned one pencil and kept a rosary in his bag to ward off thieves.
After the photo, donations, scholarships and a permanent room for the family poured in from around the world. The local police pledged to put him through college. McDonald’s gave him a monthly study allowance until graduation.
By 2019 he’d finished primary school with perfect attendance and told reporters his family no longer went hungry.
He’d be about twenty by now.

@LarryMasawudu @SIKAOFFICIAL1 You’re calling people dumb and you misspelled dumbness lmao

@SIKAOFFICIAL1 Reading comment here - I'm surprised at the level of dumpness. The ministry gave no reasonable point, but the party bots will defend.
The project has been completed with equipment. It was supposed to be commissioned around March 17th, but it didn't happen.

The Ministry of Health has released a statement reiterating that the operationalisation of the Weija Paediatric Hospital project has stalled because the World Bank withdrew funding over procurement irregularities, including reports of medical equipment costs being inflated by up to eleven times their actual value.
The project, which commenced in 2023 and was scheduled for completion in December 2025, faced setbacks after the World Bank declined to settle outstanding payments, resulting in unpaid claims.
According to the Ministry, this has halted efforts to operationalise the facility, with the contractor insisting on the full resolution of all financial and contractual issues before granting access.
