@SteveRudzinski Right? If people wanted to make their own take on Mickey Mouse they've had a hundred years to do so. But no one actually wants to freely use these properties for their own stories. They just wanna make memes.

If Public Domain kicked in as fast as some people on the internet want it to Star Wars would have never existed. Lucas would have just been able to make the Flash Gordon film he actually wanted to make. I'm not a Star Wars fan but I'm glad it AND Flash Gordon exist.
