Budget 2025: What It Means for the Pest Control Sector
The Autumn Budget brings several changes that will directly influence how pest control businesses plan for 2026 and beyond. From wage increases to fuel duty freezes, the sector will need to adapt while preparing for long term workforce development.
We’ve summarised the key points and what they mean for our industry in a new article: 👉 npta.org.uk/what-budget-20…
Headline impacts include:
• National Living Wage rising to £12.71 from April 2026, with higher rates for younger workers.
• Fuel duty frozen until at least September 2026,
• Corporation tax frozen, helping companies plan investment in vans, equipment and business growth.
• Long term pay pressures remain due to frozen tax thresholds and future changes to salary sacrifice pensions.
The Budget reinforces how important it is for our sector to invest in people, skills and the right operational planning.

PestTech 2025: In Review
Last week saw a historic PestTech in Milton Keynes! Those who have joined us would agree that it was one of the most engaging and informative Pest Control events, with so many opportunities to gain knowledge, as well as network and reconnect.
We have produced a comprehensive report on last week’s PestTech, including photographs and video, for all to enjoy:

Today, we pause to remember and honour all those who served and sacrificed for our country.
As we go about our daily lives, we do so thanks to the bravery and selflessness of the men and women who gave so much in the pursuit of peace.
We will never forget.

Standing Up for Fair Representation in Council Guidance
We’ve recently become aware that some councils are publishing pest control guidance which fails to recognise the NPTA and our members and instead recommends membership of the BPCA only.
This approach risks restricting fair competition and overlooks the many qualified professionals represented by the NPTA.
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a level playing field for all pest controllers, we’ve taken legal advice and prepared a formal letter that can be presented to councils to remind them of the importance of fair representation and compliance with UK competition law. Which we have alluded to in the attached article
If you’re an NPTA member and your local council does not recognise NPTA membership in its pest control guidance, please contact office@npta.org.uk so our team can take action and support you.

Royal Society for Public Health and National Pest Technicians Association announce new initiative to encourage people into the pest control workforce
We are, and for a while now have been building something that will make a real difference a dedicated Careers Hub for pest control in partnership with Royal Society for Public Health which we can announce today as part of Public Health Workforce Week
We all know pest control is an ageing industry, much like many others. We can either sit back and wait for the inevitable… or take action. At the National Pest Technicians Association, we’ve chosen action.
The Careers Hub will shine a light on our industry through:
Real People, Real Stories, authentic voices from across our sector, including under 25s and ex-military ( we will be recording more of these in the lead up to and at PestTech25)
Support for under 25s through our 5<25 Professional Futures Programme, delivered in partnership with Syngenta
Clear pathways for those leaving the armed forces, working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to create structured routes into pest control (you can meet them at PestTech!)
Strong links to schools and qualifications we are working with Royal Society for Public Health and perhaps a few more key companies on this project
Our goal is simple: to highlight the opportunities, people, and value of our profession and to inspire the next generation of pest professionals.
If your company wants to make a real difference to the future of this industry, get in touch with Kevin via kevin.lawrenson@npta.org.uk
