Sad to see that the estate's most northerly granny pine has succumbed to the inevitable in the last three weeks or so. The tree is now surrounded by a few dozen seedlings, almost certainly its descendants, which will hopefully grow up in its place. @N_T_S #pinewoods

Aspens are popping up across Mar Lodge, often far from the nearest mature trees. Of our 89 individual stands, 35 are comprised solely of wee trees! This is showing us that this precious species is expanding its range across the estate.
