At the 2026 World Press Freedom Day event hosted by The Nation Journalism Foundation, @MotunrayoAlaka, WSCIJ's Executive Director/CEO, delivered an engaging and insightful keynote address. She highlighted the systemic regression of media safety and called on the government to move beyond promises toward concrete protection for journalists. The event featured a robust panel discussion exploring the intersections of media ethics, ownership influence, and the role of security agencies in fostering a safe civic space. While Motunrayo Alaka attended virtually, Mariam Alo and Nurudeen Salako, Programme Officers, were on the ground to represent WSCIJ.
