Everyone should go watch Spring and Chaos because it's one of the best anime ever. Directed by Shouji Kawamori with character designs by Takahiro Kishida, this 1-hour special depicts a period in the life of poet Kenji Miyazawa. This part is my favorite, it's just awesome

To answer your question: it seems the average magical girl fan I've came across hasn't seen it. It also wasn't fully subbed for awhile iirc from one older English article I read. I felt a bit frustrated by the slower episodes, but the show overall is best at its heaviest times.

I took a long trip to Japan a year before moving to set up work connections, etc. and was interviewed three times! Three times I was on TV. Hasn’t happened a single time again in the decade I’ve actually lived here.

Interesting change that in the OVA, Hikaru already knows Fuu and Umi. Didn't like it at first, but I like how the possibility of them being separated is used to enhance the much darker tone this has compared to the original.

Haruhi was so popular at one point that an entire street was filled with fans to do the dance. 💃 20 years later is considered a “forgotten gem”
