🇦🇷 Citizenship process, month 9: Lawyer: Could you sign this? Me: Sure, what is it for? Lawyer: It's a request to review the documents once again because they said they needed a birth certificate, which was there, translated and apostilled, but they ignored it 🙃

As a US citizen, you'll always pay 15.3% self-employment taxes, no matter what you do. Your Wyoming LLC can pay 50% and you pay the other 50% out of your salary... But you're still paying the same 15.3%. There is no magic loophole if you're the service provider or owner.
hunter@hxxntrr

there's founders living in portugal, incorporated in wyoming, banking with chase, paying 0% tax legally and 99% of american entrepreneurs are too dumb to see the play let me break down geographic arbitrage: the setup: you're an american citizen you pay 35-40% in taxes you work from your laptop you think you're stuck the arbitrage: move to portugal (or similar) keep US LLC (wyoming) bank with chase (US banking) qualify for foreign earned income exclusion pay 0% federal tax on first $120k legally here's the exact structure: step 1: form wyoming LLC ($100/year, no state tax) step 2: open chase business banking (remote friendly) step 3: establish tax residency in portugal - get D7 visa (passive income visa) - live there 183+ days/year - become tax resident step 4: apply for NHR status (non-habitual resident) - portugal's tax incentive for foreigners - 0% tax on foreign-sourced income for 10 years step 5: qualify for US foreign earned income exclusion - live outside US 330+ days/year - exclude $120,400 from US taxes (2023) the math: you make $200k/year from online business US taxes normally: $60k-70k (35%) with geographic arbitrage: US taxes: $0 (foreign earned income exclusion) portugal taxes: $0 (NHR status on foreign income) wyoming state taxes: $0 (no state income tax) total tax: $0 you saved $60k/year legally but here's where it gets better: you still have: - US LLC (best legal protection) - US bank account (best banking system) - US credit cards (0% APR, points, limits) - access to US payment processors (stripe, etc) you're using american infrastructure without paying american taxes while living in european paradise one of my clients: - american citizen - moved to lisbon - kept wyoming LLC - got $150k in chase business credit at 0% - pays 0% tax - lives on beach - runs amazon FBA business he was paying $52k/year in taxes in texas now pays $0 that's $520k saved over 10 years the US tax code was designed to benefit corporations they accidentally created loopholes for digital nomads the gurus teach you to "save on taxes" with deductions i teach you to pay $0 legally by moving your ass

@KobeissiLetter I don't know who tf people are following these days, but this feels nothing like 2022, which was orders of magnitude worse. Everyone had just lost their life savings and/or large portions of their net worth in FTX, LUNA, and other scammy bullshit. Retail never even came back.

@WillRicci This is why I suggest remote U.S. workers (especially those with families) consider LATAM. In Argentina, 2k/mth gets us a 2BR house in the countryside on 1/2 acre w/ grill, pool, amazing private school for our daughter, GREAT food, travel, etc. The American dream moved south.

Can a family live on one income today? Yes, but not today’s lifestyle on yesterday’s budget. Here’s what it actually looks like: • 1,000 sq ft home, not 2,500 • One used car • One family phone — no smartphones for kids • One TV, no subscriptions • No microwave, no central A/C • Home-cooked meals, no dining out • No childcare, 1 parent stays home • Public schools only • Local sports, not travel leagues • Basic health insurance: pay dental & extras out of pocket • Simple clothes, thrift store toys • Rare vacations, little debt That’s how most families lived for decades and they raised kids, built communities, and made it work. The issue isn’t that you can’t raise a family on one income. The issue is that we’ve inflated “middle class” to mean upper middle luxuries: two cars, two iPhones, dining out, Amazon Prime, orthodontics, soccer trips, Disneyland, and a home office with Wi-Fi. In 1960, one income worked because expectations were lower, families were more self-reliant, and debt wasn’t a lifestyle. You want one income? You can do it. But you have to live like the people who actually did it. Not poorer, just simpler and more deliberate. The people of the past didn’t have a choice, but you do.

@itsjacksworld It doesn't work like this in Argentina at all. That "get your residency in 7 days" shit only flies in Paraguay. Here, it's going to take you at least 6 months and that's if everything works out perfectly and you come here with all your docs from your home country already prepared

Life in South America is so much easier than the USA or Europe. A month ago I decided I really liked the city I’ve been spending time in. Snapped my fingers and within a week, I became a permanent resident. Now I’m touring brand new luxury apartments with gyms, pools, and amazing rooftop views. Cost all-in? $70K for an 800 sq ft/ 75 sq meter apartment. Name another region where you can decide to live somewhere permanently, legally, with your own place, all within weeks. Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil. Pick one. They all work like this. 4 years in and I couldn’t be more satisfied with what this part of the world has offered. I’ll be here a while.

Please for all that is holy get some competent advice at any price if you come into serious money. Spoke with a prospect yesterday with nearly $300mm NW who has been trying to manage nearly 15 entities and trusts himself (and very incorrectly and badly at that). Can’t access half of that capital in any tax efficient way or take debt against it, inheritance is going to be a shitshow, etc My ears bled as he was telling me about his situation and showing me his financials. More than half of his entities and trusts were doing harm instead of helping

This is coincidentally the same logic behind killer fascinations––one of the highest-ROI direct response levers you can pull––given that you can sell a $1,000+ product on the back of a single, well-crafted bullet.
Atlas@DentesLeo

You make people obsessed with you by being incomplete. Give people 80% of what they need to understand you.. just enough to see the pattern but hold back the 20% that completes it. That 20% is what they'll pay for access to.

Did you know: The 2nd weekly close below the 50 week SMA has confirmed the bear market EVERY SINGLE CYCLE in Bitcoin's 16 year history. We're now below the 50 week. Therefore, if the next 2 wks close below...it's over. Nothing else to debate.

Lmao “survived” a run from 15k to 126k. Bitcoin will one day be everything you imagine, but it’s not going to magically escape global liquidity cycles and break all past structure now just because you proclaim it. People say this every Q4, every 4 years. It 8x’ed already. Fin

@junevHodl Ask them what their CAGR has been for their own clients for the past 10 or 15 years. Show them Bitcoin’s. Only then add you can send $5B of it on a random Sunday for like $1, which arrives in minutes. I could go on, but they’ll only be left with some bullshit straw man argument.

This also happens a lot with fellow young people I graduated with. Either they are not interested or already have all the knowledge. Is there a good way to address this in a conversation?

At an event tonight a “finance influencer” shut down any Bitcoin discussion with: “I’ve worked in Canary Wharf my whole career, I know what money is.” No grasp of Austrian economics, sound money. Just arrogance. The sad part? People actually take financial guidance from her 🤦🏻

I spend a good chunk of the year in Argentina. Yes, I have a winery but that's not the only reason. Weather: Get beautiful summer weather during our dreariest months. Food: Eat steak every meal for a fraction of what we pay in the US. Great wine, of course. Culture: Argentine culture has been compared to Italy and Spain. They value good food, sobremesa culture which is refreshing compared to our social media obsession. Natural Beauty: Within a couple hours of my farm I have access to some of the biggest mountains in the Western Hemisphere, gorgeous rivers and lakes. An outdoorsman's dream. Not everyone can escape their jobs in the US or Europe. But if you can, or you can work this direction. It's highly recommended.

In 2023, I convinced @thedankoe to be my cofounder on a Zoom call. Two years later, we’ve built our startup to 80,000 users. Here's what I learned: 1. You don’t need permission 2. “I’ll figure it out” is key 3. The internet is the greatest equalizer of opportunity

Your Bitcoin will be worth $10M and you still won’t want to buy coffee with it if you have the option to pay using a worse currency. Nobody uses appreciating money for depreciating goods. Basic human nature.
