“Palestinian children are ours.” – Dr. Mohammad El-Sherbiny, Pediatric Surgeon About a month ago, PCRF deployed a voluntary pediatric mission to Lebanon led by Egyptian doctors Dr. Mohammad El-Sherbiny, pediatric surgeon, Dr. Medhat Mikhail Messeha Gerges, anesthesiologist, and Dr. Noha Tharwat Eltantawi, pediatric neurologist. Working alongside Lebanese staff at Safad Hospital, the team cared for children from Al-Baddawi Camp and performed critical surgeries for nine children who needed timely treatment. Today, as many children and families in Lebanon face renewed uncertainty and displacement, acts of compassion like this continue to bring hope to children and their families. We’re pleased to invite you to join us for “Healing Gaza’s Children Abroad” on March 28 at Columbia University, New York, for an important conversation about treatment access, recovery, and the urgent need to continue providing specialized care for Gaza’s children. Following the launch of this event series at Harvard Medical School, the conversation now continues at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. You will hear directly from Fadi and Mutasembellah, two young patients referred by local physicians for specialized medical treatment abroad through PCRF’s Treatment Abroad program, as they share their treatment journeys and recovery. Their experiences reflect those of many children who continue to wait for access to specialized pediatric care. This event will also bring together medical experts and PCRF humanitarian leaders to discuss the realities facing Gaza’s children and what the global medical and humanitarian community can do to help expand access to life saving care. The event is open to everyone. Statement on Recent Developments in the Middle East As the situation escalates in the Middle East, PCRF remains in close coordination with our teams and partners across Gaza, the West Bank, and the wider region. Our focus remains on delivering our humanitarian mission to the communities that depend on us. At this time, our foremost concern is the safety of our staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries. Our teams are currently working remotely, where possible, and our social workers continue to carry out their essential work. Despite the renewed closure of borders and tightened restrictions, our day-to-day operations remain active as we implement our humanitarian programs and planned activities for the holy month of Ramadan. Our most recent medical mission in Gaza successfully concluded its work last week. We are closely monitoring developments and will provide updates as they become available. PCRF remains steadfast in its commitment to serving children across Palestine and the Middle East, continuously assessing conditions on the ground to ensure that our support reaches those who need it most. Hearing loss can make it hard for a child to connect with the world around them. For Mohammed from Gaza, living amid war made it even harder. Every sound, every warning mattered just to stay safe. Months without support due to shortages in medical supplies ended recently when Mohammed received hearing aids through the PCRF Direct Medical Sponsorship Program.
