@nagev1cklee__ It may just be me, but it always felt like the Hermitcraft side of the community was a more chill and inclusive place, especially after spending a few years of playing and witnessing the more intense and competitive side of Minecraft and the effects it can have on people.

@jamiemrow @inteledits She's actually ethnically part-Russian, but was born in the US and currently lives in Canada. So less of a tie to Russia than one may think, she was there visiting extended family, but admittedly the lack of Context & Clarity for her trip was a MAJOR Oversight on her part.

Minecraft content creator SpideyArmy has been kicked out of an SMP for being Russian. Although only there to visit family, stans are attacking her for visiting Russia, speaking Russian, and paying taxes

@GryshenkoKh @vyudra_ Agreed... both countries have their issues, as does any, yet one's actions does not excuse another's. Russia is committing Genocide against the Ukrainian people, and this episode has hopefully opened the eyes of its extent to many. (Myself included, and it's devastating to see)

@vyudra_ It's typical whataboutism. The best way to combat it is to redirect and stay focused on the current topic. Everyone with a brain knows America isn't perfect either, but it doesn't mean Russia gets to be ignored.

@nagev1cklee__ That's honestly fair... I think her response was "good enough", but this should have been addressed 3-4 years ago, not after the community had to come together to bring it to light against odds when the Flight SMP's (among others) initial response was silencing Ukrainians.

I think that spideramys response was performative and she wasnt sorry about anything BUT her being called out about it

It astonishes me that Ukrainians were actively being silenced for speaking about the effects the War was having on them, their families, and their country. They are victims & survivors of an ongoing genocide, and as with anyone, we should be more than willing to hear their voice
