For a decade, I believed Apple was right to keep touch off the Macbook screens. But now, after nearly 4 years using an iPad Pro as my “daily driver” machine, I’ve come to deeply resent that I can’t just occasionally tap the MacBook screen to complete certain actions.

@ICameLegally @MacRumors 80% of Mac users I know (not power users or “creative” historical user base. But the extended users Apple has courted by consistently making the most beautiful & desirable notebooks) has fingerprints all over their screens because they expect to work like an iPad now.

@ThePeej As a chemical supplier this is our favorite discourse. Almond milk ingredients: water, almonds, calcium carbonate, locust bean gum, gellan gum, ascorbic acid. That last one is vitamin C. Everything is chemicals. The question is always which ones and at what concentration.

The Ontario Science Centre’s roof didn’t buckle under the weight of all the snow that fell today in Toronto. The engineer’s report that was used as an excuse to close it recommended repairs but not a shut down. The government shut it down anyway.

The designers of these products are actually not designing for their use by the target audience. The target audience and use are: the well intended grandparent or aunt, browsing the seasonal isle at the dollar store!

I misspoke here: the designers are not designing for the actual gift receiver to use the product. They’re designing the product to show well on the shelf. So the target audience is the gift buyer not the gift receiver!
