The appointment of Francis Atwoli is not just disappointing—it reflects a deeper problem of recycled leadership at the expense of progress. At a time when workers are struggling and young people are demanding inclusion, bringing back the same faces sends a message that the system is not ready to change.

But here’s the truth we can’t ignore politics is failing Nairobi.
We elect leaders, then spend years in power struggles, threats of impeachment, and distractions instead of service delivery.
Nairobi cannot continue to be a political playground.
If we go metropolitan, it must be:
Accountable.
Professional.
Focused on people—not politics.
The voices from Riruta are clear—fix the system, not just the name.

English

The youth in Riruta were clear,we support the idea of Nairobi becoming a metropolitan special city. Not for politics. Not for titles.
But because the city has outgrown the current system. We need:
Better planning
Stronger enforcement
Real coordination between county and national government
Nairobi needs a system that actually works.

I was on the ground in Riruta as part of public participation with Mtetezi – the Grassroots Economic Justice Movement, engaging young people on the future of Nairobi.
One thing stood out clearly—Nairobi’s challenges are bigger than a normal county can handle.
Floods, collapsing buildings, traffic, unemployment… these are daily realities.
The question is no longer if change is needed, but how?

English

Accountability does not stop at leadership.Developers chasing profit over safety.
Contractors cutting corners.
Engineers signing off on unsafe structures.Officials looking the other way.All are responsible.
Nairobi residents deserve safety—not condolences after preventable disasters.
Build right. Inspect right. Govern right.

As a human rights activist, I must speak on the situation surrounding Raphael Tuju. Regardless of politics, no Kenyan should be stripped of their dignity, livelihood, and economic stability in a manner that appears punitive rather than just.
Watching someone’s property auctioned and long-standing sources of income taken away — including businesses they built over years — raises serious questions about fairness, due process, and proportionality. Justice must never look like persecution.
In a constitutional democracy, the rule of law must protect every citizen equally. Today it is Tuju; tomorrow it could be anyone else. Disagreements, debts, or legal disputes should be resolved through transparent and fair legal processes — not through actions that appear designed to completely dismantle a person’s economic life.
Human rights are not selective. They apply even to those we disagree with politically. The true test of a society governed by law is how it treats individuals when they are most vulnerable.Let justice be firm, but let it also be fair.

When the government launched the Kazi Majuu programme under President William Ruto, Kenyans were encouraged to seek jobs in the Middle East. Recruitment drives were organized and families were reassured that the government would protect its citizens abroad. Today, thousands of Kenyan workers remain in danger as tensions escalate in the region.

Across drought-affected counties, hope is moving — and I’m honored to walk this journey with Caravan of Hope.
From standing with vulnerable families in Bisil, to delivering food and essentials this week in Kyuso, Kitui . our caravan continues to grow through the power of community and compassion.
Next, we head to Isiolo County — committed to reaching those who need support the most: the elderly, widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and schools without meals.
When people come together, dignity is restored and hope travels further.

It is deeply concerning to see the current state of Orange Democratic Movement. The party now appears divided into two , and many loyal supporters are confused about the direction they are taking. What is even more unfortunate is watching some of the very individuals who once loudly disrespected and even mocked Raila Odinga during his dead are now positioning themselves as defenders of his legacy. Social media does not forget. Kenyans remember who stood firm and who did not.
Senator Edwin Sifuna, with all due respect, the group surrounding you is not protecting Baba’s legacy. From the outside, it appears that personal interests and political calculations are taking priority over the values and sacrifices that built this movement.Protecting a legacy is not about controlling narratives or forming factions. It is about honoring principles justice, loyalty, consistency, and standing with the people even when it is not convenient.
History will judge everyone accordingly owada.

In the spirit of solidarity and compassion, we distributed essential food supplies and blankets to vulnerable families struggling under harsh climatic conditions.
Being Valentine’s Day, we also shared flowers with our sisters — a simple reminder that even in difficult times, they are seen, valued, and loved.
This is only the beginning.
We are planning subsequent caravans across all 23 affected counties as part of a mitigation effort to cushion our people as we await further government intervention.
The responsibility to care for our communities belongs to all of us.

English

Abuse of power must be called out.
Allegations of intimidation, unlawful arrest, and the misuse of high office dragging in the President’s son to silence critics are deeply troubling.
No public servant is above the law. Institutions like KWS must protect citizens, not terrorize them.
Kenya deserves accountability, not fear.
