can I be SO honest, TwitchCon made me feel SOOOOO isolated in the streaming space & made me realise I don’t fit in anywhere lol everyone’s got their own lil clubs/friendship groups and then there’s me like 🪿

@bbjess I mean I like IRL streaming from a content perspective but maybe certain parts of the con could have no-IRL streaming rules for people who don't want it

Not necessarily a complaint just an observation – there were so many IRL streamers at twitch con. Maybe 100 times more than years past. Also so many streamers have their own cameraman and that was unexpected. It definitely changes the vibe of the event when everyone’s interacting with their own chats while walking around. Low-key there was a huge lack of consideration from a lot of people. I was hearing complaints from friends with mobility issues that streamers and their cameraman would just walk in front of their mobility scooters or wheelchairs and have no consideration for others and that fucking blows.

@BocaBola_ @bbjess 100% not normal. You couldn’t turn a corner without seeing at least 4 IRL streamers. In past years you could for the most part see at most 10 irl streamers over the course of the whole weekend and even then most did it in front of the con outside and gave room for others to move.

@bbjess The amount of people that had a dedicated camera person was def the biggest shock to me. Since this was my first twitchcon I thought this was normal lmao

@bbjess it for it being the 10th anniversary of Twitch Con but it just made me sad it wasn’t worth it. A local con would have been cheaper and brought more to the table than this year’s Twitch Con.

@bbjess 100% agree. I’ve gone past years and those had so much more to give especially the pre Covid ones. This year had me like “is this it?” Especially with loot cave looking so barren compared to previous years and I was like I don’t even want anything here. Twitch should have overdid

I had a great time at twitchcon and that’s really just because of the people that I met and hung out with. The convention itself adds very little value to the creator economy unless you’re a top 1% or Favorite at twitch. it definitely leaves me feeling nostalgia for twitch of the past. Maybe I know too much because I’m friends with so many ex-staff members but it’s like you can feel how understaffed twitch is- especially on the creator support side. So many creators feel left in the dark and clearly there’s a lot of important details falling through the cracks. I wish I had advice or answers on how to fix it, but I really think the company lost sight of its actual purpose and identity. It’s like they think they’re one thing but the actual users of the website think another thing.
