Canvas getting hacked during dead week right before finals

The Shiny Hunters just took the entirety of Canvas(the lms platform) down, I have multiple friends from different colleges all texting me abt this

@Mariolxl1 @daradoescode This is what they know has been affected. If Canvas is downplay it saying they’re down for maintenance. Do we really think that we’re getting all of the information from anywhere?

@daradoescode this sucks and they knew about this week being the finals too. thankfully it doesnt look too bad from what i am reading from my school's email besides the email addresses, names, and student id numbers.

@schmook @AaronParnas My highschooler was affected as well, and I got a call from their school to not log into canvas until further notice because it’s been hacked. Anyone using Canvas for higher education or K through 12 will be affected as far as I’ve seen.

@schmook @AaronParnas Downloading the list is probably a horrible horrible idea unless you want malware spyware and viruses on your computer/phone. It is nationwide 9000 schools to include not just universities but also high school schools because not only in the comments 1/2

NEW: A Columbia student has sent me the following screenshot of what appears to be a large-scale hack of the University's learning software. Students cannot access Canvas at this time.
