@CoolRunnerCraig @PaulTassi @Forbes I honestly don't think anything releasing after Edge of Fate was going to move the needle at all. The Portal was so badly recieved and they didn't or couldn't do much to totally fix it. And you are right, it was bundled so why would they think Renegades would change things?

seems Destiny content production shrunk during Shadowkeep, and it got more and more expensive to deliver up to fan expectations.

Someone suggested I track a lot of open questions about Destiny 2 end-of-service, and I figured I'd crowdsource for an article or video. So far have things like:
- What happens to artifact rotation?
- What happens with resetting transmog bounties?
- What happens with balance patches?

@mdmthibeau @PaulTassi Exactly. I worked hard to get to 9 during the previous period but Deralize isn't worth it for this one. So it would be nice to just keep what we had lol. Probably wishful thinking though.

For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.
As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.
Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.
We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.

A Changeorg petition asking Sony to make Destiny 3 now has 90,196 verified signatures in one single day This comes as Bungie prepares to end major Destiny 2 content updates on June 9, 2026, and move its focus to other projects like Marathon. @PaulTassi @Forbes I don't think I would have engaged this game as deep as I did without your articles or found a sense of community among the replies. I still haven't found that for other games. Destiny is certainly special, but so is the community who plays it.

The Division 2 is also still releasing updates. Pretty sure the community is up in arms from the most recent update a few weeks ago but it's been doing well the past year. No doubt because Destiny dropped the ball.

Even wilder when you realize Destiny as a lot more active players on SteamDB. Obviously just a small piece of the overall playercount across platforms but still. Bungie and Sony didn't even try to give it a chance despite being healthy in comparison to other games.
