@TheRealJamesFB @BrAgLifeEnjoyer @Thegenrlstaff The overall strategy until literally 3 weeks ago was to defend Europe at great expense to ourselves, while Europe fails to meet funding targets and also generally shits on us at the negotiating table. No more.
English

The biggest downstream impact of all of this is ex post facto totally justifying the attempted acquisition of Greenland. Say the Danes say we can't use our nuclear early warning sites because they want to be neutral in whatever conflict, that is a HUGE issue for NORAD.
If NATO conditionally won't let us use bases we have access to, then we have to assume that those conditions will come at the worst possible time for our national security. The "alliance" is totally broken at that point.

If China invaded Taiwan, Europeans would say it wasn't their fight, shut down our overflights, and try to cut a deal with the PRC.
English

@mckay656 @BrAgLifeEnjoyer @Thegenrlstaff There's a difference between sometimes, and as an overall strategy.
English

@TheRealJamesFB @BrAgLifeEnjoyer @Thegenrlstaff There's a fine line between friendships/alliances and being taken for a sucker. NATO is the latter.
If you can't stomach being an "asshole" sometimes, then I'm afraid foreign affairs isn't for you.

So, he was not following orders from his chain of command

CBS News@CBSNews
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to step down and take immediate retirement, sources familiar with the decision told CBS News. One of the sources said Hegseth wants someone in the role who will implement President Trump and Hegseth's vision for the Army.
English

@WillWalton67 @awstar11 You still have not come up where I said that. There was no order refused, the original poster just made that up.
English

@TheRealJamesFB @awstar11 You are the one implying it’s his right to refuse orders! This isn’t difficult!
English

@BrAgLifeEnjoyer @mckay656 @Thegenrlstaff No, being an asshole country scares me. We're a constitutional republic with a proud tradition of friendships and alliances, not Russia.
English

@TheRealJamesFB @mckay656 @Thegenrlstaff We get it, big proposals, big actions, big initiatives, and big countries scare you. You’re a small kinda guy. That’s alright, everyone has their place under God’s infinite sun
English

@mckay656 @BrAgLifeEnjoyer @Thegenrlstaff They never said that. Trump is just cosplaying Teddy Roosevelt or something. Same thing with his weird, but since abandoned, claim to take back the Panama Canal.
English

@TheRealJamesFB @BrAgLifeEnjoyer @Thegenrlstaff We should threaten and insult them because they think sending under 10k soldiers to Afghanistan is all they ever need to do to pull their weight.
English

@Papote_T @UTMedic1113 @ranger_viking @awstar11 Also I should point out the irony of cosplaying Department of War and then immediately arguing that nothing they do is a war. 🤣

English

@Papote_T @UTMedic1113 @ranger_viking @awstar11 You know there is more than just the Army in the DoD, right?
English

@UTMedic1113 @TheRealJamesFB @ranger_viking @awstar11 lol your post literally proves my point dude 😂
English

@Papote_T @UTMedic1113 @ranger_viking @awstar11 Yeah, OK it was another name a for brief time. I was simplifying things. Regardless it is still the DoD. Trump has not even tried to get the name changed. It's pure Hegseth cosplay.

@UTMedic1113 @TheRealJamesFB @ranger_viking @awstar11 Here’s some history for you. National military establishment was the precursor to department of defense and it had all the other three under it with the department of army split into af and army. Prior to that it was the department of war.

English

@Papote_T @UTMedic1113 @ranger_viking @awstar11 No, I said the Department of Defense wasn't. Listen carefully. Before 1947 there was the Department of the Navy and the Department of War. After 1947 they renamed the Department of War the Department of the Army and put it and the Navy under the new DoD, along with the AF.
English

@UTMedic1113 @TheRealJamesFB @ranger_viking @awstar11 Dude, he literally said it was never the department of war. Don’t listen to his bs.
English

@mckay656 @BrAgLifeEnjoyer @Thegenrlstaff So we should just insult and threaten them because they're a small country?
English

@TheRealJamesFB @BrAgLifeEnjoyer @Thegenrlstaff My guy, Denmark has 16,000 active duty personnel across all branches. If one guy drowns himself in a toilet on base, that's more casualties per capita than any American military action.
English

@TheWildBishop @puttinonfoil @awstar11 No, Trump is the one with the fondness for German generals, not me.

@awstar11 Exhibit B. Active duty officers won't get investigated for MAGA joyriding, but if you are a retired officer who criticizes Trump, you sure as hell will.

Here's my logic:
1. The president / SecDef have complete authority to direct military policy and vision
2. The military is obligated to enact and follow that direction unless specifically illegal or unconstitutional
3. SecDef has complete authority to remove officers who do not follow these orders as directed or even just a lack of confidence in their ability or willingness to do so.
You characterizing this required loyalty as being a sycophant is a mischaracterization and politically motivated. No basis in any factual knowledge of the reasons, of which no details were provided so, you just made a wild assumption.
As for the Kid Rock thing, I agree it was BS but irrelevant to the discussion above.
English

@TheRealJamesFB @Papote_T @awstar11 Oh, really? And when did you serve bitch? You had the whole first quarter of this century to get into this fight and make even a small contribution. Heg has more testosterone in the smallest pimple on his ass, than you have in your entire body.
English

@Papote_T @ranger_viking @awstar11 No it wasn't. The Department of Defense was never previously the Department of War, the Department of the Army was. In 1947 they split off the Air Force, and put all 3 services under the new DoD.
English

@TheRealJamesFB @ranger_viking @awstar11 For the majority of our history it was the department of war. It’s not like it’s just a name they came up with out of no where 😂
