Just in: The NBA will hold a vote at the Board of Governors meetings March 24-25 to explore adding expansion teams exclusively in Las Vegas and Seattle, with the two franchises targeted for the 2028-29 season, sources tell ESPN. There is momentum for stakeholders to approve surveying what industry executives project will be bids in the $7-to-$10 billion range for each team.

@MelWebster I’m just talking about the system in general and the reliance an algorithm, but fair enough. That’s for any team across the board. Not just UMass. I understand the numbers can be helpful and prevent favoritism from a committee, but the numbers don’t tell the full story of a team.

@TheRealRBarry @MikeGrinnell_ Can’t cry about the system, because everyone is playing under it. That said, if PWR was still being used, UMass would pretty much be in. CCHA seems to have benefitted the most from NPI. For example, St. Thomas is 13 in NPI and 18 in PWR.

Folks talk a lot about disbanding UMass football and putting all those resources into hockey, but I’ll tell you what, if you told me they were cutting men’s hoops tomorrow I wouldn’t bat an eye. 12 games on fall Saturday afternoons beats 35 games in the winter of this. So done…

Santos can be awesome at Penn. He was part of what made UNH so great to cover. Incredibly bummed for the Wildcats though, the fact the Quakers ceiling is higher in modern FCS is nuts. CAA is dead and gone, and the likes of UNH, Maine, and URI are sadly left in its wake.
