@TheRevitKid An interior design firm I was at had this same realization and we changed the templates over to inches. Easy to do with interiors. Visually, it helps to reduce muddiness on drawings too.

As I am sitting here trying to figure out how to get my window tags to show different units than the project (for ROs) it hit me that, in the field, inches are actually way easier to work with... Why don't we just use them on everything?!

@mattbaran Congrats Matt! We did a smaller scale shipping container project similar to this for the same clientele in Atlanta earlier this year. (The Melody) The project was a huge success and a win, win, win for everyone involved.

Our project at 1888 MLK is complete and a new tenant will be moving in. The Housing Consortium of the East Bay will operate 88 “high quality” studio units for the unhoused. It’s interesting that when a ‘non-profit’ completes a shelter or an affordable housing project, you don’t usually see anyone talk about it being a ‘financially sound’ move, but it often is. (Out client is a market rate developer so it had to be pointed out in this case) From @Oaklandside : “when the pandemic struck, it became clear that more supportive homeless housing was urgently needed, said Cappiello, principal at CRC Development. The firm started seeking out nonprofits to work with, and ultimately connected with HCEB. Cappiello said he’s “thrilled to be part of the solution in Oakland” and hopes the property can help set higher standards for shelters.  The arrangement may also be an economically sound move. A lot has changed since 2018, when the MLK project was first proposed. Construction costs have shot up, and demand and rent prices have dropped. Developers are struggling to get projects to “pencil out” in downtown Oakland.”

How long until it’s prohibitively more expensive to have more than 30% of a project team be human?

@TheRevitWizard Yes. Projects, Companies, and Members of both. It is essentially all project admin features. I also connected it to your accounting software to pull project info from. Just pick the internal project and it creates the ACC one based on that.

Would you use a tool that creates ACC clouds from within a Revit Addon so you don’t have to leave Revit to start a new project?

@seanmpage Are you able to manage project members? I’ve been working on an internal one that has our teams built in. Really just building things to learn before I work on my “big” project.

AI gets a lot of crap for being an emerging technology that has flaws.. BUT AI is responsible for reigniting my passion for the AEC industry. The future I have visualized is one I yearn to be a part of.

If AI could do tedious, repetitive tasks for you in Revit for an hour every afternoon while you’re at lunch, would you let it?

A project team was told “hey, you’re gonna want to do some coordination for your project. It will cost this much” They said no Now we are in construction and they realized they need someone to coordinate some special details and are asking me to do it NOW. What do I tell them?

I have built something really cool, but I can’t share what it is and it’s killing me.
