@TheRopen They are cryptids. Legendary creatures people have claimed to see. I've heard of all of these except the frog.
I could see all of them existing.
@TheRopen I know, it's still just within the potential color range. But it happens very often that prehistoric crocs are depicted in very unnatural green colors like comic characters. And even that olive color is rather rare among extant crocodylians.
Final take on what most people know as 'Mahamba', but I prefer to call 'Werner's Crocodile' after John Reinhardt Werner. My version shares a common ancestor with Crocodylus thorbjarnarsoni, but is specialist of dinosaurs and monsters

@MarkusBhler10 I based the color on a mix between the natural color of a Nile Crocodile and Saltwater Crocodile, which came out as olive-bronze. It does look green though.
Body turnaround for a cryptid I like to call the Werner's Crocodile, but most others would know as 'Mahamba'. This thing is supposed to be 12-15m (40-50ft), so I partially based its weight-supporting hip anatomy on giant crocs like Purussaurus

Final take on the Dogtooth Frog. It was generally named the Dog-Fanged Frog on the Encyclopedia of Cryptozoology, but I think Dogtooth Frog is better. My version is a large Odontobatrachid frog related to the Sabretooth Frog.

Color study for my Dogtooth Frog. It was described as being greenish-grey with an orange underside like an African Bull Frog (which I'm fairly certain is what was really being described), but I wanted the resemblance to be superficial.

Study of another personal take on a Congolese Cryptid, this time an obscure one called the Dog-Fanged Frog from a December 31, 1945 article of the zoological journal Copeia.

Here's my final take on the J'ba-Fofi. In my setting, they can only grow so big because of magic-based mutations making their respiratory system more efficient.

Sample of how I chose my J'ba-Fofi's color scheme. Along with the original dark-brown coloring and purple markings on its opisthoma, I also thought about a division of shades and markings that could help it blend to the forest floor. My final choice is #35.
Size of my personal take on the J'ba Fofi. Descriptions ranged between a legspan of between 3-4ft (91cm-1.2m) and 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m), so I chose the former as it came close to the average size of the coconut crab. In my setting, only magic-based mutations make this possible.
I want to try being more active by posting my progress work. This here is a personal study of my take on a giant tarantula-like Congolese cryptid called the J'ba Fofi. Let me know if you like to see more before I finish the final image.
