Feeling stuck? Go for a walk. Research shows walking boosts creativity, insight, and problem solving in over 80% of people. The effects are seen in as little as 6 minutes. Going for a walk is a superpower.

Priming research: A morning "squat" session of 4 sets x 3 reps @ 50, 65, 75, 85% 1RM with maximal intent of effort increases afternoon stretch shortening cycle performance (CMJ): ⬆️jumping performance ⬆️eccentric force production ⬆️mean take-off impulse ⬆️mean take-off power However, the priming session did not increase maximal knee extensor strength or RFD measure via maximal knee extension isometrics (MVC) ✅Well trained subjects (elite U20 ice hockey) ✅Control group / crossover design "This suggests that morning resistance training can boost certain aspects of physical performance later in the day, potentially benefiting athletes in competitive settings."

🎯 Are you fixing the wrong problem? Every athlete’s movement exists somewhere between capacity and coordination: between what they have to move and how they move it. Coach Stuart McMillan calls this the Capacity–Coordination Continuum - a model that helps you locate where the true constraint lives before deciding which “button” to press. 👉 Misread it, and you can make the problem worse: Cueing a coordination issue when the limiter is range. Chasing more velocity when the limiter is structure. Trying to “fix” an asymmetry that’s anatomical, not technical. The deeper skill? Seeing how these layers interact, as structure, function, and coordination constantly shaping one another. Every intervention changes the system. The art is knowing where to act, and why. 📩 Learn more insights like this every week by subscribing to the free ALTIS Newsletter Series, packed with high-value lessons from world-class coaches and performance experts. 👉 Subscribe here: loom.ly/ACCPXuo #Coaching #HumanPerformance #SpeedDevelopment #MovementAnalysis #CoachEducation

In the exercise world, the science/research is generally 10-20 years behind what the best coaches are doing. That doesn't mean we discount the science. Research's job is largely to validate and explain why something works. It's seldom the innovator or the best prescription.

“With mature athletes, specificity and quality are the key. It’s easy to start with low volumes and build up if needed. It’s much harder to start too high and try to correct.” — Kevin Tyler This principle guided an entire year of our sprint training plans, balancing precision, load management, and progression for advanced athletes. 📘 Review a full year of ALTIS sprint programs: 👉 loom.ly/CuBaduE
