So I've spent the last week with Claude Cowork and OpenClaw As someone who's usually unimpressed with accounting AI... I'm blown away right now Very excited to share the next few videos we have in the pipeline A lot's going to change by the end of 2026

Had a convo with someone who wanted to start a public charity. They planned to contribute all of the funds and then grant funds to friends for their creative projects. Here are 2 reasons why that doesn't work: 1. Public charities must meet a public support test. If you are the sole contributor, the charity will not pass the test (google "substantial contributor") and could risk becoming a private foundation (PF). The reason a PF is not ideal is because, aside from hardship grants and scholarships, PFs can't grant funds to individuals 2. Public charity grants must be objective and nondiscriminatory. Granting funds to your friends is not objective. Moral of the story? If you want to fund your friends, just write them a check. A public charity is a fund for the community, not a VIP lounge for your social circle.

Was walking through a client’s books with an intern and the intern described one of the client’s questionable expense accounts as “sus.” This next generation is not trynna code switch and I’m here for it 👏🏽🤣

Many taxpayers may find that any expected 'tax savings' are offset by higher tax preparation fees. This isn’t about raising prices for profit—it’s the reality of increasingly complex tax laws that require more time, resources, and expertise to navigate. #TaxTwitter #TaxBS cnb.cx/3Ia64os

This past year, I've been studying 📚and taking on consulting projects to build knowledge in retirement, investments, risk management and estate planning. Last week, I took the PFS exam and thankful to finally be a part of the PFS™ community 👐🏽

Have y'all seen @taxgirl's article about the new financial reporting rule? It isn't nationwide - just 7 counties in the USA. All border counties. They say they're focused on money laundering, but it'd also be a good way to find Americans and immigrants (legal and illegal) who are sending money back to their families in Mexico. you gotta love the entrepreneurs who think they will start or buy a company where other people will do all the work and they’ll collect all the money

OMG, did everyone in Austin throw up a little bit in their mouth when they opened their property tax bill from Travis County? Even with the homestead limit of a 10% increase in property value, the tax went up 21.46% 🤯

U.S. District Court Judge Mazzant out of the Eastern District of Texas has issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Treasury from enforcing the CTA. An appeal is almost certain. I'll have more on this tomorrow.

@taxgirl Opted for the callback. Got it... but when it was time for the rep to get on the phone, I was told that they are too busy to take my call and the phone disconnected 😮‍💨

A new one. I called IRS, busy so opted for callback. Callback happened but before I could say a word, rep say they're having tech difficulties, he has to transfer me. Does so, they queue me again, offered callback. I opt in again. They say no bc you already had one, disconnected!

It's all over folks. Whatever vain imaginations I had of being "cool" have died. T.O.D. 1:08 pm EDT, July 22, 2024. My wife sent me a link to a minivan.

This fact is alarming. The people who needed help the most are in the bucket of taxpayers who got the neglected phone lines.

Tax pros need to read this summary of the Taxpayer Advocate's mid-year report. #TaxTwitter It goes into detail about the phone line and why some lines are prioritized over others. In short, they prioritize the lines that are used to measure their level of service, but neglect the other lines.
