""Other archives might go for the letters from Charles Darwin and we'll go for some bloke’s scrapbooks from the 1950s." One of my favourite quotes from interviewing @stefdickers for the latest episode of The Scrapbook History podcast ⬇️ buff.ly/3V0Wshc

@TheScrapbookPod @stefdickers Great interview + podcast! I am curious; are there any museums in the U.S. which are particularly known for collecting scrapbooks? I run across them in LC Manuscripts but have seen few related to everyday folks. 🧵1/2

"I think scrapbooks are wonderful examples of how people have interpreted the world around them, whether it be a band they like, or what people find sexually attractive" says @stefdickers in the latest edition of The Scrapbook History Podcast. buff.ly/3V0Wshc

Just came across @TheScrapbookPod which explores the history of scrapbook making in Britain in 20th century. When I visited @NatRecordsScot one of the items I looked at was a set of athletics scrapbooks - newspaper cuttings pasted into old telepone directories.

@JuliaMusings So sorry for the delay, but I'm been away. But yes, one episode will be touching on theatrical scrapbooks. Do you recommend any? Feel free to drop me an e-mail to hello@scrapbooks.org.uk with any recommendations.

In Edwin Morgan's scrapbooks, he included various clippings on the scrapbooking process itself. Why was this important? @MyLiminality explores using the concept of 'meta moments'. Find out what this means in the latest episode of the podcast. buff.ly/38GCZiC

@PeggyAnnBrown And that's also a good question I'm still working out the answer too in my research. I think it can be linked to how much people enjoy collecting, if they've seen other examples (like in family culture) & if they do/don't take part in other forms of life writing or collecting.

@TheScrapbookPod Enjoyed this. Interested to know in your research if it is common to scrapbook for such a long period of time. Also what characteristics influence whether someone becomes a scrapbooker vs. a diligent journaler?

@PeggyAnnBrown Thrilled to hear you enjoyed the episode. Serial scrapbooking is more common than you think! I've come across a series of scrapbooks made by diplomatic and political families in the twentieth century for example, as well as scrapbooks dedicated to recording local history.
