@PercyArmsDisco I do wonder if we could end up keeping Trippier just to help bed in a new right back should Tino leave. Honestly wouldn't be against it provided the new lad could stay fit and keep him out of the team.
English

@PercyArmsDisco For me, if we let any of Trippier, Schar, and Pope go, that'd illustrate that he isn't too loyal. Could make an argument for a Murphy or a Burn, but they're still worth keeping around for me.
English

@PercyArmsDisco I'm not twisting the argument mate, I've literally said I'm not even arguing. My point is that you can't use letting Matt Ritchie's contract expire to illustrate that he is willing to let players go for the sake of progress. That means letting first team players go and upgrading.
English

@PeteGravesTV Why did you bother asking people for their opinions if you didn't want to hear them?
English

@J_92__ Thing is, if the journos even just said "I know him personally and I know how hard he works, I have faith that he can turn it around" it would at least be semi respectable. They don't though, they try to tell us how to feel and some even take snide digs at the fans.

@TheSeanIdentity Mark McAdam also doing PR for them. Wonder why eh

Give @markmcadamtv a pay rise 👏👏👏👏 Great stuff this. #nufc

How on EARTH does Howe have such good PR? He's not exactly a charming, charismatic operator is he?

Eddie Howe may have outgrown Newcastle and Man United should be keen, Kepa is too good to be Arsenal No 2... and strange case of a £34m January signing: IAN LADYMAN on My Premier League Weekend trib.al/z0ItzdD

@rpatz9 My opinion is I'll always hold the bloke in high regard and he's our best ever manager. He has worked wonders, but equally he's had so much control at the club and he's paid a fortune to do it. I think we'd benefit from fresh ideas and he'd do brilliantly elsewhere after a break.
English

@rpatz9 Fully appreciate you aren't blindly backing him. To be clear though, you think the years Howe has given us (which have been excellent on the whole) are enough to mean people shouldn't be angry at him for losing the derby twice and throwing away a host of leads this season?
English

Newcastle supporters calling for Howe's head on a platter should maybe bare this in mind. You're holding him to standards he set himself by hugely overachieving in his first 4 seasons given the wages we pay. It's the dictionary definition of ungratefulness #nufc
English

@rpatz9 I agree we aren't going to get a top class manager with this current squad, and although I think we need a new coach with new ideas I agree that the squad and Howe have overachieved. It doesn't answer my question though: how are people ungrateful with regards to what I mentioned?
English

@TheSeanIdentity Have the same problem. He won't be top class either for the same reasons. People won't acknowledge the massive over achievement of the preceding 4 seasons because this season has been poor. Players retained probably need a new voice next season but they will have the same issues
English

@gillham_kevin I do! It's going well pal, hope you have a wonderful holiday

@The__Farmster He's battling cancer and hasn't managed in about 19 years, man.

@TheSeanIdentity At this point I would bring Keegan back for 7 games.
We need an immediate change

There is zero chance we're getting through a three week international break without a "make Keegan Director of Football" shout is there

Sack Howe. Give Rafa a contract to the end of the season with heavy bonus incentives. See how it goes until May. There’s your answer #NUFC

@IanARobinson @PeteGravesTV Emery didn't join Villa for nearly a year after we went for him. He turned us down because we leaked our approach for him on the day of a Villarreal Champions League game and he rightly wasn't happy about it.

He will not struggle for work. The question is whether he is the real issue, as PIF seem to be struggling to come to terms with running a football club. The popular myth is that Howe (and his relatives) have carte blanche over transfers. The reality is that every financial decision at the club is made by PIF. In the case of transfers this leads to a painfully slow process, which is categorized by multiple bids, protracted negotiations and losing out to clubs in the top 6 who entered the process at a later stage. PIF are focused purely on resale value, which by definition means our best players are always available at the right price- hence the current speculation. They expect to play a part in the selection process including questioning targets put forward by the DoF (both our previous DoF found they could not work within that framework). The result was we ended up shopping for the best of the rest two weeks after the season started, and the result is clear for all to see. They even had to compromise on resale value in buying Wissa who is well outside of their age profile. Howe looks tired and there is a lot of rinse and repeat with team selection and tactics. But there is no doubt he is talented and has proven he can improve players consistently. PIF have to decide if a reset in the summer (which will require them to devolve transfer negotiations to the CEO / DoF will get the project back on track, or whether they believe they can get the same impact by changing the manager. My call is that Howe will be well sought after and if he goes we will fail to get the elite manager most fans think will replace him. Brand Howe has not come out of the recent months unscathed, but he has kept his own council which will nbe attractive to certain owners groups. Remember Emery would not sign up for this project under these terms, preferring Villa. Most of the names touted on twitter would take the same view, so PIF need to reset for the club to go forward.
