The most powerful habit for writers to improve their relationships: Better Communication Over the past 4 years, I've focused on communication every day—and along the way I've learned: • Speech = identity • New info puts the other in a box • Communication starts in the body

My goal: Play long-term games with long-term people. I'm not chasing 20K followers, I'm here to help 2-4 people grow their revenue. And after I've partnered with a few dozen people and helped them reach their online business goals, I'll analyze the results, package the process, and share it with hundreds of others who could benefit. This is how we grow together.

Persuasive writing is an art. Getting better at it takes practice. I've started copying old sales letters from master copywriters like Gary Halbert. Copying them helps me study them. Copying them by hand or on a typewriter forces me to slow down so that each word and sentence gradually unfolds. As I copy them word for word, my brain can unpack the structure and what the writer is trying to achieve. After finishing a copy, I go through my version and add my thoughts in the margins. Yes, this is work. But it's also fascinating and I've noticed a change in my writing. This post, for example, has been structured to persuade you of the value of manual writing practice. So, what do you think? Is this a good way to practice persuasive writing?

The biggest risk to your future isn’t your competition, it’s the distractions you insist on keeping in your life rather than doing the things you know you should be doing but aren’t.

Stop trying to take shortcuts. Instead, just focus on putting one foot in front of the other. The rest will take care of itself.

Stay Curious - How I helped land an MLB team as a client. Rain delays happen in baseball. But they're not suppose to happen when the field has a roof. ok here's the story. A late spring, Sunday in Milwaukee. I got out for a mountain bike ride early knowing that afternoon showers would develop given strong daytime heating and a mid-level trough above the surface. I finished up my ride as I saw showers developing. While driving home I based by then Miller Park (now American Family Field), I found it odd the retractable roof was still open as a shower was approaching. As I got home and turned on the game, a rain delay at Miller Park! I was working for a forecasting operation we had at UW-Milwaukee. We worked with utility and transportation clients mainly. I thought, we can provide services to the Brewers that surely would've helped them avoid that embarrassing delay. I pitched the idea to my boss, we talked to university connections and had a meeting with the grounds crew manager. He agreed it was an unfortunate incident and that our services would help them better prepare and respond to weather. Shortly after we landed the Milwaukee Brewers as a client. The takeaway? 1. You and your team are one of a kind. 2. Opportunities are everywhere. 3. Leverage your network. 4. Promote your value.

@MarioG_DaSilva Yes, it all starts with books. I’m not a huge fiction guy. I usually read nonfiction. But this year I’ve been working on War & Peace and it’s been nice getting back into a story.

The single most powerful habit for writing better: Read books Over the last 10 yrs, I’ve read a book every single month—and along the way, I’ve: • Written thousands of articles • Authored award-winning newspaper columns But I always return to books. They are foundational.

Follow this 4 step framework for better long-form reading: • Scan headlines • Scan main points • Scan sub points • Scan bullet points This framework reveals the outline of the piece so you can decide if it's worth reading the entire thing. You'll save a ton of time.

@supermanuelsaez @StuLierich Yesss, thank you for that. And, if it were easy to implement and it didn’t take any intention or effort, I guess that would defeat the point.

It’s a fucking miracle to be alive. Out of all the billions of circumstances that had to exist, in just the right proportions at just the right time, it’s an incredible impossibility that I’m alive. It’s incredible you’re alive, reading this. It’s a fucking miracle.
