I just received some devastating news: my university friend, who moved to the US right after graduation, was brutally beaten and seriously injured by his neighbors. The attack happened because he and another guy he met there were dating. The neighbors didn’t approve, so they jumped both of them and beat them badly. Why would anyone do something like that? Is it really an “offense” for someone to simply be who they are and love who they love? I feel like I’m losing touch with how the world works today.
