I had a chance to reflect on what this day is, what it means & how the Star Wars IP is unrecognizable. From the mythos to the evil vs good & everything in between.
I can only think of my dear friend's thoughts; "If you were a big fan, how could you be ok w/ the changes"?

She does not refuse. She is fascinated by it & the "myths". The next thing she does mind tricks & force pulling of the saber. That is not refusal. She only runs from the saber because she wants to return to Jakku.
Identity struggle was from creators not having a clear plan.

Rey also refuses to get involved with anything related to the Force. She clings to the past and runs away from the Skywalker saber. She also struggles with her identity, lack of family, and then the Palpatine legacy. I honestly laughed because the first two things also fit Rey.
