I wish simulators were more realistic. If you connect an LED directly to +5V, the screen should saturate white quickly, then go black, and you should get a whiff of the magic smoke.

day 4 learning to be an electrical engineer (one and half weeks left) I think that automating the routing is probably something I don't want to do, but automating a large part of the "schematic" generation is going to be key. This is very easily automatable

My first computer as a kid was a 486 based PC. My dad bought me an audio card for my birthday, he tried to install it for me as a surprise without telling me, but instead, it broke my computer. And when I noticed something was wrong, he seemed upset, and I didn't understand. Didn't take long before he explained what was going on, and I was happy and sad at the same time. It was a valuable lesson to me about working on electronics and making changes to them. And carries forward to my modern life with working on PCBs. Expect the unexpected!

How I feel with access to modern low-cost Chinese PCB shops.

@willreil Have you considered 3D printing a die and using it to cut a sheet for your stencil?

Yesterday I made the 3d printed stencil generator and many were saying that it wont work for smaller components or on more densely populated boards. I am going to test that today. I believe it could work down to 0201 with a 0.2mm nozzle and hole compensation in the slicer.
