@RichardRf020370 @RobertElms We open roughly twice a month due to the fabric of the works and one of those days we run our Victorian 47’ 7” long, 116 ton Universal Testing Machine that can apply a 1,000,000lb of force all powered by hydraulic water.

Patent No 2970. The modern Patent Office was established by the Patent Law Amendment in 1852, David Kirkaldy patented his 116ton, 47' 7" long Universal Testing Machine, which we still operate today, and on 26th November 1863 and granted Patent No GB2970.

24th January 1874 edition of the "The Architect" featuring the renowned architect Thomas Roger Smith's No 99 Southwark Street. Grade II listed by Historic England in 1971 for its striking Victorian architecture in a fashionable Italian Romanesque design.

The wonderful world of material testing. Picture shows load testing of Hammersmith Public Baths & Wash-house, known as Lime Grove Baths, ballast bags were used in the roof then the deflection was checked & recorded by Kirkaldy’s.
