@SonicConfesses I concur, I bought a pie from his family's pie store and taste was so abysmal that I furiously clench my fist whenever I see metal sonic

@xChRl5_100 @PaperSonicIdol Okay upon rereading the convo I realise I completely misinterpreted your point as being there was no movement tech in sa1 and not unintended movement tech that can skip large areas like the chaos spear that's my bad you're just right here

English

@TheTrueFraud @PaperSonicIdol I've watched SA1 speedruns. It's just people using the spin dash a bit faster than more casual players who just spam the action button as fast as they can.
English

I would have agreed with you if this was before Frontiers, but now we have a game like Shadow Generations.
Shadow Gens, whilst still open to play by anyone who can pick up a controller, found a balance between being made for Sonic fans and a general game player.

"I don't want to sounds like gatekeeper but the games pander to casuals too much So many features were toned down or removed just because it's harder to casuals The games never will reach it's peak if it will stay that way At least that's my opinion"
English

@xChRl5_100 @PaperSonicIdol The TAS Spindash isn't... that? I'd really suggest looking up what the TAS Spindash is because it again is different than just button mashing like what you're talking about. You're mistaking it for 'dashing over and over' when it is specifically trying to counteract that.
English

@TheTrueFraud @PaperSonicIdol I'm sorry but a movement tech which is only slightly different from the basic tech that anyone slightly knowledgeable about the games mechanics knows is not the same as a tech that let's you skip everything. People's opinion on SA1 isn't nfluenced by the existence of TAS spindash
English

@PaperSonicIdol @xChRl5_100 Nono I'm talking about a movement tech in SA1 since that's the focal point rn, obviously spindash jump is an intended move 😭
English

@TheTrueFraud @xChRl5_100 You mean the ability to increasy the reach of Spin Dash jumps, right? That was obviously unintended. Still, the basic ability to Spin Dash jump was definitely intended, you've been able to do it since Sonic 2.
English

@xChRl5_100 @PaperSonicIdol I'm not seeing what you're putting down? If you're saying the Chaos Spear tech isn't as fun then yeah I understand but they are both unintended movement techs. The TAS Spindash relies on manipulating movements to retain stored speed that is meant to be lost after a spindash.
English

@TheTrueFraud @PaperSonicIdol I know you can use both action buttons to spam spin dash faster, but using that and timing your presses in a way to make it faster or whatever it is they do, is not close to the same thing as spamming Chaos spears to fly over stages.
English

@xChRl5_100 @PaperSonicIdol I think we're talking about different things here, you're talking about just basic spindash mashing. TAS Spindash is a COMPLETELY different thing in the speedrunning side of the game which is an unintended movement tech and how most speedrunners use the spindash.
English

@TheTrueFraud @PaperSonicIdol It was intended for the player to be able to mash the spin dash button to go even faster. Speedrunners/TASers being able to spam spin dash faster doesn't mean that the tech of "spam spin dash" was unintended like Shadow Gens' Chaos spears tech clearly was.
English

@xChRl5_100 @PaperSonicIdol The TAS Spindash was 100% not intended I dunno where you got that idea
English

@TheTrueFraud @PaperSonicIdol SA1 doesn't have anything like the Chaos spear tech. Yes you can use the spin dash to cross large distances but that is an intended effect of the spin dash. There are places where you're intended to spin dash off a slope to skip sections. It's just not treated as the main route
English

@TheZmanShow To each their own I suppose, I really enjoy the spear jump as a thing in the game but I 100% do agree it should've just been a thing with Shadow's base momentum
English

@TheTrueFraud Eeeeh id say it’s still too easy and streamlined personally. Quite on rails unless you use that spear jump which isn’t very fun imo.
English

Don’t vote for either. They’re abominations. Killing people with no rhyme or reason is against the natural order.

I finally got to her! Sonia!😎
So I just finished the first two arcs of Mega Man Star Force 1. I'm LOVING the game so far! The writing is absolutely fantastic and the gameplay is just as fun as Battle Network was, but in its own unique way! And one thing THAT I LOVE is that unlike with the Battle Network collection, they actually went out of their way to arrange the ENTIRE Star Force soundtrack!
I'm absolutely gushing at this game right now because this is the type of stuff that reminds me why I fell in love with gaming! Capcom poured their entire hearts and souls into this collection and I could feel it every minute that I play! PLEASE go support this Legacy Collection if you haven't already!

We've already HAD a game like this that we've moved on from too quickly.

Sock@SockTiger
there is no reason we can’t have a game that looks like this
English

@PaperSonicIdol To be fair, it's a mechanic that's been embraced by the company, even if it wasn't originally intended. I think it's fair to include it given the fact there's similar tech in games that these people DO highly regard like Adventure
English

@TheTrueFraud Ehh, that's more because of an exploit using an ability that is otherwise only used for glorified Quick-Time-Events (Chaos Spear).
English

@TheTrueFraud maaaaaaaan cmon now that game was beautiful but it was a visual novel, not a 3D platformer
and it's not even the same artstyle 😭
