A distinct difference between Bangalore and Bombay is that of "drive" and "ambition":
In Bangalore:
- So much of the "tech" part of the city is filled with the highest density of smart, talented, driven individuals.
-->First generation wealth builders are driven to make something of themselves. Secure life. Ascend the Maslow's pyramid.
- People are ambitious. There's VC raises, ARR conversations, SF influences. BUT the ceiling is still too low.
In Bombay conversely:
- The density of driven people is far lower. 2 key factors for it:
1. Either people are too low in Maslow's hierarchy, where they're barely able to navigate the cost of living and survive.
2. Or they're second/+ generation wealth holders with no pressing need or urgency pushing for a drive.
- Despite a lower drive, the ambition is far greater, because the ceiling is just so high.
What may seem like an "incredible" monetary number for business owners/founders in Bangalore, could often be a write-off for more established industries in Bombay.
The scale at which you see numbers and industries move in Mumbai enables ambitions by virtue of representation and normalcy. Not imagination.
