@CoopTory We are influenced by the US. I can live with that. The extent to which we are beholden to Israel (more than Canada) is a problem.

Australia and New Zealand are truly blessed to be far from the rest of the world. They have been able to carve out unique English-speaking societies largely free from the direct influence of the United States. Canada needs to be more vigilant due to our geography.

With a 94 seat majority- he could have changed Australia for the better but he chose to be insignificant and insular.

@TerenceMcCart14 I'm so tired of searching hi and lo for a toilet in Europe only to discover that I must have a specific coin which is only available at a specific vendor. On depositing my precious coin I discover that the queue for the only stall in the station is so long I will miss my train.

Really depends on what happens if democrats do get control of both the house and senate. If he is impeached and removed, there is good chances of reviving our relationship with allies in the near future. If republicans keep both and do nothing about trump, then no we will be pushed further away and most likely into an authoritarian/fascist country.

Do you think the United States will ever return to normalcy or have we entered the post-American world?

@Peter_Fitz You are assuming that democracy will reward the best candidate with the best record and the best policies. When corrupt information sources create a poorly educated electorate in an unrewarding economic environment democracy can produce the most dysfunctional representatives.

Fair enough. But, equally, let's have a look at what Australia thinks after we get a good look at who the latest One Nation politicians are, what they propose, how they perform, and how long they stay. Is that, equally, a good point?
Mark Tramby@MarkTramby

@Peter_Fitz Peter , easy to crow about results in THE most Labor state in the country , they were always going to win and PHON was always going to struggle. Let’s see what you’re saying when Victoria goes to the polls , a state where Labor are highly on the nose.

@BernardKeane You’re part of the problem with current democracy. You’re strong on personal abuse but that’s it. I haven’t given any public advice just analysis of why people in SA vote ON. But you know more about my State than I do I guess

Pete Hegseth, Trump’s Secretary of Defense, commented on the shortage of Tomahawk missiles in the U.S., claiming that “weapon stockpiles were depleted back under Biden due to shipments to Ukraine.” In reality, the U.S. has never supplied Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine — Hegseth is simply lying. They started a war without having the cards, and now they’re blaming Ukraine.

@archer_rs It will take several good presidents and administrations and I'm afraid America hasn't it in her to do that.

The US President who comes after Trump will likely have to spend nearly all his first term repairing the damage that Trump has done to America.

Who remembers the corner shop that you walked past on your way to and from school? You could buy an ice block in summer or a bag of mixed lollies any time. These were held in big jars Both cost 3-6 pence (Gawd I’m old 🤦‍♀️😁)

Basically, the news out of SA is that One Nation has surged by pretty much the same level that the Libs have been decimated - and it is all to overall advantage of Labor who will have a strongly increased majority. #SApol

It is looking Like One Nation might have as many seats as the Liberal Party in the SA election. And so they should have with the share of first preference votes they have. Wakey wakey Australia.
