An episode of the ESPN School Quiz that was shot on 13th December 2001 in Noida. Was blissfully unaware of what happened in Delhi on that day. Got to know only in the evening when I spoke to my parents, who had called the guest house at least 100 times asking about me.

Just finished watching the first episode of Ultimate Sports Quiz on Jio Cinema. Reminded me of the ESPN School Sports Quiz that was so popular many years ago. Was a big fan! Harsha Bhogle hosted it then, he's hosting it now. He looked like a senior school teacher then, looks like a senior college professor now. Serial quizzer, the very affable Joy Bhattacharjya too is involved with the show (behind the scenes). Loved the new version. 1200+ schools from 350 odd cities. What I remember was most fascinating about the ESPN Sports Quiz was how far and wide its popularity had spread that schools from the length and breadth of this country would look forward to participate. I remember wondering -- wow, schooling in India, especially in the remotest parts of the country, was so highly evolved and profound. Today, when I was watching Aditya & Aryan from Sun Beam School, Lehertara, Varanasi, similar thoughts came back. Three rounds, all different from each other, to be answered within a time limit -- super fun for kids. One team mistook archer Atanu Das for Dipika Kumari (and I'm wondering how 😂). I'm glad good memories ensure good things never fade away. Looking forward to more.
